Sudden change in daily calorie goal
Hello all,
Has anyone experienced a sudden change in the daily calorie goal? I didn't do anything to my settings and have been using the app for about 15 years. Suddenly I have 40 more calories than I had before.

A while back, my understanding is that MFP changed the formulas they use to estimate calorie needs, switching to a more recent research-based formula that they think is more accurate. Most people I've seen talk about the effect have said that their goal went up a bit. If you recently took some action that led MFP to re-evaluate and re-estimate your calorie goal, that could be the reason. Various things can trigger calorie re-estimation, mostly changes in one's MFP profile or nutrition goals.
I don't know whether you're trying to gain, lose or maintain, but honestly 40 calories a day is unlikely to be a big deal. Even when we log meticulously, our daily totals are likely to be off by that much or more anyway - label variability, measuring issues, one apple sweeter than the next, whatever. Even if we were exact, eating 40 excess calories above maintenance would take about 3 months to add a pound of weight.
If you want to, you can manually change your calorie goal to whatever you want it to be, besides. I needed to do that because MFP's initial estimates were pretty far off for me. It works fine.
Best wishes!
