First week of Zepbound

it’s taken a lot of thought and frustration to get me to taking Zepbound. Firstly, it’s darn expensive (am self paying) and then all the noise about nausea and other GI issues.

Must say I am eating better and smaller amounts (as much protein as I can), drinking water and starting to move more. I only had one issue after eating a homemade portobello mushroom pizza! Probably the fat but definitely caused lower GZi distress.

I just took my first dose on Tuesday. I had immediate nausea and felt hungover for several hours afterwards. No issues since then except for less food noise and full faster. Let’s do this!!

I’ve been on Zepbound for one year and have lost 38 pounds. I still want to lose another 40 or so, but I might have to go off it due to cost. You have to force yourself to eat sometimes, but if you don’t you’ll never learn how to eat properly. It’s a great time to explore everything in moderation since you’re not hungry and will fill up quickly. Beware of constipation!!! Drink plenty of water.

It took a lot of convincing for me too. I was very afraid of side effects. I have gone up and down with weight the last 15 years. Most recent goal weight happy was right before pandemic doing ideal protein and running for first time ever at 52. Tried ideal protein and optivia and both got me to where I am right now without zepbound but it took 9 months instead of 2.5 months. Now I am on my 12th week of zepbound on 5th shot at 5mg. August 11 start. I’ve lost 37lbs so far. I have very little appetite for anything. I stopped drinking alcohol entirely because I was afraid of side effects. I am here because this week I am barely losing a pound and I felt like talking to others struggling. It’s changed my entire social life to not be hungry or drink. No more fabulous dinners out. No more going out for a drink on my own to just get out of the house and meet people. I love to cook. I love food. All of that true enjoyment is gone. It’s like someone turned off the enjoyment receptors in my brain. I have described it as an antidepressant for the stomach. I got some nausea and gastric distress at first. I don’t get as much now. I keep Pepto tablets near my bed. If I’m nauseous it’s usually the second or third day. I try to make sure I get protein. Chicken broth from Brodo and Greek Yogurt are now my go to meals and snacks. You’ll know when it’s time to increase dose because the cravings come back. For me it was walking by a pizza place and thinking “that smells good”. I realized I hadn’t thought those words in a month. It just shuts off the hunger or desire. It’s kind of bizarre but it works. But on a week like this week where I ate out twice and barely had anything and I’m not going to lose two pounds I think “why am I depriving myself of joy if this isn’t going to keep working?” I’m impatient :) good luck. Get some protein shakes. Chicken broth. Fage yogurt. Salami cheese roll ups.hard oiled eggs. And Pepto chewables. Even a glass of whole milk has 10g of protein. Protein protein protein.

I'm on shot#8 at 5mg. Lost 24lbs in 8weeks. No side effects yet but next shot is 7.5mg which I'm a little concerned about (several posts elsewhere about side effects starting at 7.5) The weightloss has me very motivated to walk dog, move, do exercises to maintain muscle, etc.

Unfortunately I don't see how I can keep all this weight off forever (without glp help), but I'm trying not to stress about that right now.

Took my 3rd of 2.5mg this morning. Haven’t had any GI issues. I did have very bad chills after my 1st but that went away by the next morning.

My problem is sleep. I work the night shift and I know sleep is a big aspect of weight loss. Interested to learn how the night shifters out there are prioritizing sleep and increasing your protein intake.

It works! I have had great luck. On week 4 and down 7 pounds. It is expensive unfortunately but it’s an investment in your health. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Had 2nd 2.5 Zepbound today. So far so good and no side effects. Definitely helps with food noise and satiety. Also paying through Lilly Direct. I waited a long time also before taking the leap because of all the talk of side effects.

I started 2.5mg Zepbound on 11/8/25. I took my third shot 2 days ago. No side effects so far and still craving certain favorite foods. I'm worried I won't be able to get enough protein. Not even sure how much protein is enough per day. I think I need to meet with a nutritionist. I'm also concerned about the cost but right now my insurance is helping with it as it was prescribed for OSA which is covered but weight loss is not. Go figure.

I have started the diabetic version. Monjero I am on 10 units. It has helped with my glucose levels, I am averaging glucose readings around 100. I started taking Monjero at 283 lbs and I am now down to 265 lbs. I have been using the diet suppression to my advantage though this week, I started a daily 16 hr fast. I also have been on high protein low carb diet. Monday I am seeing a nutritionist at the VA. I'm sure she is not going to agree with the amount of calories I am averaging. I also plan to start moderate exercise this coming Monday. Light weights and walking on the treadmill.

First dose last night, woke up today with no food noise, no hunger. No sweet cravings. Pushing my self to eat, had light breakfast protein, good lunch vegies and chicken, and now eating some yogurt with berries but not hungry at all. Just putting stuff in my belly because I must. Proud of myself and surprised that I went to the office kitchen and there were two boxes of Krispy Creme donuts and my body/mind ignore the desire completely for the first time in my life!! Went for a walk during lunch and felt a bit weird but with energy,

I've been on Zepbound for 6 weeks now and have lost 6 lbs which is supposed to be good. 1 lb per week. I'm learning to eat more protein and fiber and drinking lots of water and other fluids. Push the fluids. The food noise is gone. This is a miracle drug. I hope I can stay on it for life. I just watched a good video about GLP-1 meds and he talks about Zepbound towards the end. Good video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT3BxZNJlhs

Also, there is an awesome podcast by Dr. Emily Cooper called Fat Science. You can find that on Spotify.

Hi! I took my 2nd 2.5mg shot last Sunday. I lost 3 lbs the first week. The food noise and constant hunger (or idea that I was hungry) have gone for the most part. I am focusing on water, protein, and fiber. So far, so good.

Does anyone else feel like it's hard to eat enough food to get the right protein level each day?

I hope it works well for you. My insurance doesn't cover weight loss medications. So I pay for oral medication. I've been on it since May 2025, and it's been so helpful with my appetite and food noise. It's a great tool, along with keeping a calorie deficit. I also log everything on MFP. THAT keeps me accountable. I'm 64, 5'11'', and started at 352. I'm down to 245, but still have more to go. I've always been heavy, but lost my husband in 2024 & really ate anything that didn't bite me back. The weight loss has slowed down, but it is still heading in the right direction, so I'm happy. MFP really helps keep me mindful of what I'm eating. There haven't been many side effects, except the dreaded constipation. I've figured out what works for me to deal with that.

    I hope you have success!
