I am a new member, trying to lose 20-25 lbs. always had a problem with eating when I’m bored, upset, any kind of emotion. Today I had an idea. When I wanna eat and I’m not really hungry I’m upset or something I’m going to play the piano or color or do something else. Maybe it will work. How does that sound?

That sounds exactly right.
If the root problem isn't hunger, nutrition, or self-fueling, the best answer isn't food.
If the problem is emotions, then finding non-food ways to manage those emotions is a better solution. (Usually, in the big picture, over-eating just makes emotions worse - at least that's how it is for me, since I regret the over-eating later, or dislike the "being overweight" and "being less healthy" consequences.)
Some people do well by distracting themselves, some do better with releasing emotions via creativity, some use classic stress management techniques (mild exercise, meditation, prayer, etc.), some find it best to sit with the emotions to explore and process them. Whatever works for you to manage the emotions directly is a good solution.
Don't worry if you have to try a few different things, or repeat trying things multiple times, before you get this all sorted out. Give yourself some grace- not all experiments succeed - and keep going. Just keep working at it, and you'll succeed.
Best wishes!
