Slow progress is still progress: 12 lbs in 5 mos.
Hi all… I’m 71, 5’3”. I started tracking in May, weighing 163 with a goal of 145 by Nov 1.
I also started an exercise program to strengthen, improve balance and flexibility, and burn calories.
I’ve been more or less consistent. Most days I track close to my target 1300 cals/day. I’ve reduced fats and casual drinking.
I’ve been working with a medical weight loss clinic, nutritionist, and personal trainer. Two months ago I was prescribed a low dose stimulant to suppress appetite, which has stopped me waking hungry and eating at night.
i’m now weighing in at 151. I’ve lost about 2 lbs a month—so slow! it is frustrating. But I am stronger, sleeping better, and my chronic knee pain is much reduced. I’ve lost an inch around my waist and gone down a full dress size. And though I’m still above my “normal” or recommended weight range, I feel more like my younger self.

I am 70 and have also lost slowly, but I have kept off 30 of the 60# I lost 18 years ago. I began again the beginning of September and have lost 6 #s. I would like to lose 30 more. I'm focusing on the reasons for losing weight this time. My reason is to spend more healthy quality time with my friends and family. I just got back from visiting friends and family in PA for a week. It is the hardest week of my year because they cook like they think we don't have any food in FL. I continually thought I will only eat "bad" things that I can't get in FL like ham loaf and my friends famous chocolate chip cookies. I returned to within .1 of my weight in 2 days after I lost the swelling and constipation. I'm eating only the leanest meats like chicken tenderloins, pork tenderloin and fish. I'm roasting 7 or 8 low carb vegetables once a week and eating them for days then I switch to salads for a break. Thin sliced graintastic bread is my treat and 70% dark chocolate. I didn't mean to write a book, but I hope this helps someone.😊🎃

Keep up the good work. I am also losing slowly after years of gradual weight gain, I am guessing slower is better in the long run because it will be easier to maintain and have less side effects. Congratulations on supporting your health. You are an inspiration.
