I’m baaaaaaack

I used Fitness Pal to reach my goal weight about ten years ago. This past year, I’ve really blown up, due to smoking cessation, some surgeries, and laziness. So here we go!

    Welcome back!

So I quit smoking over 15 years ago, and that weight gain after quitting is a real thing. First, since I stopped putting a cigarette in my mouth I replaced it with food. Second, a few days after stopping, my sense of smell came back and everything tasted AMAZING! I literally remember one day leaving work to get an order of egg rolls in the middle of the day because they sounded AMAZING at the time. But yeah, then one day I was driving home and my belt was cutting into my waist to the point I had to unbutton my pants. Then it was time to slow down on the chow and get busy dieting.

You've done it before so you know the drill. You got this!

It's good to have another dude on the chats. Welcome, dude!

(Not that I don't appreciate my female acquaintances here as well.)

I’m having a good first week back. Logging every single food, exercising, and staying within my points. Should achieve my goal of losing one pound this week.

I find MFP is a little too generous in adding calories for exercise. But I’m not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

@BirmingDan : Sorry to report that I don't lose weight if I eat many of my exercise calories. I can eat roughly half.

My theory is that, although the workout burn may be valid, I tend to rest more on days where I exercise and even the day after. I will do a good workout, go home, eat dinner, then lie in bed watching TV starting at 8-9. If I don't work out, I might stay up a bit later and do something else. My adaptation is very effective!
