Water making you feel sick?

I just drank four cups of water because I was thirsty, not forcing it or anything. I drank the water and now I feel so sick. Has this happened to anyone else before?

if you are dehydrated and you guzzle water you will make yourself feel sick. I do this occasionally. Usually following my ultimate frisbee or other intense workout. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens all the time.0

Try to slow it down next time. You just probably drank too fast. I've had it happen to me too. I have slowed myself by consciously taking one mouthful of water and bring my glass down and swallowing before taking another swig.0

yeah I feel all swishy and sloshy... I've been putting away 2 gallons a day for three days- it's killing me- I hate it.
But slow down- and sip. SIP. I NEVER guzzle water when I work out- or ever. JUST SIP.0 -
How quickly did you drink it? If you drank 4 cups of water in a couple of minutes, yes, I am sure that it made you feel sick.0

Great advice! Yeah, I pretty much was like GULP GULP GULP.... ugghhhhrghhhhh...
I felt better after 10 minutes. Thanks for the advice though everyone!0 -
That's half your daily requirement in one go. That's bound to make you feel odd.0

if you drink too much water within a short period of time, you could get water poisoning.
i remember from some scientific article that your kidney could only filter 1L of water per hour, so don't drink too much0 -

Ouch!
First off, I'm glad you're drinking when you're thirsty - that makes sense.
The phrase "Drink to thirst" doesn't not mean taking in 2 pounds of water at a time, though. :-)
Just a few sips a time are all that the body needs.
And yes, "water poisoning" is real and it kills people (mostly women, as it turns out).0 -
The danger of water poisoning is largely overstated. Yes, it's a real thing (hyponatremia), but the number of people that die from it annually is minuscule. Endurance athletes that don't get enough electrolytes are at the highest risk.
Drink your water. Not too much. Don't fear death from water poisoning.0
