Feeling out of shape, need motivation, need to get going!

I have never posted to a forum for help since I do not see how it will help though I want to change how I feel.
I need to do some type of workout
I need to change my diet while keeping the cost down
Once this is happening, I can worry about the other parts of my life!
So what can a forum board do to motivate a stranger to feel better? I don't know but I hope it works!

Start small, keep it simple.
Once you figure out how much food you need to consume. Put together a grocery list. Don't just go cold turkey with the "bad" foods. slowly phase them out and adjust according.
Find a physical activity that you like to do, walking, cycling, inline skating, football, swimming, etc. try to engage at least 30mins a day, 3-4 days a week.
Prep your meals, to avoid bad last minute error.
Hope this helps0 -
Go buy a fitbit flex...they only cost a little over $50 and makes "moving" so much more fun!0

Log everything you eat and drink for 1-2 weeks without worrying about calorie counts or healthiness of food choices (pay attention to your portion sizes - weighing and measuring will enhance accuracy and train your "eye" to portion control) . This will give you a baseline. From there you have a couple of options. Bottom line is you want to cut how many calories you eat each day by somewhere between 200 and 500 less than your average baseline. To do this you can modify the quantity of the things you already eat (which will certainly save a little money or you can substitute healthier choices for some or all of what you eat (may cost more in some cases; make the changes gradually and don't make changes you aren't prepared to stick with "forever"). There is no bad food, just bad (excessive) quantities. Exercise is not required, but can help tone your body and/or improve cardiovascular health. Doing an activity you enjoy is the best option, especially if you can find a way to do it and move your muscles more (I'm thinking mostly about golf - pull or carry the bag rather than ride in a cart between holes)0

What's wrong with your current diet or what about it do you want to change?0 -
TRX is a great workout! I can recommend it to anyone, but you gotta find a good trainer if you have joint problems or anything similar. ^^0
