I saw this on YouTube and logged it. Im wondering if it is a good recipe for fat loss and muscle gain
it’s a Greek yogurt recipe with cocoa powder, flour, a few chocolate chips, and milk.
I can post the recipe if anyone wishes so
I'd say as long as you like it and it fits into your calories, it's fine. Looks like it tastes good.
what is one making when one prepares a Greek yogurt recipe with cocoa powder, flour, a few chocolate chips, and milk? If I fetch some flour… what would I be making? And how? And would it taste good? Are the calories going to be reasonable? How will the flour work into the yogurt????? I have both skyr and greek yogurt around… so standing by!!!
I’ve seen similar online and it’s either a protein cake or a protein pancake - they seem to be okay. I’ve tried some variations and some are better than others.
Willing to give it a go if good… 🧐
Muscle gain/retention and fat loss are about your days and weeks not single meals as long as you hit your protein and stay around your calorie goal any meal can work
I hope whatever this is gets cooked. Not a good idea to eat raw flour.
it appears to be an MFP recipe since it has the premium “crown”.
Regardless of who publishes recipes, I always verify the calorie count by reentering it myself. I have yet to find an online recipe that’s a.) accurate or b.) can’t be easily tweaked to lower calories (the soy-lime tofu I made last night called for marinating in 6(!!!) tablespoons of sesame oil. I made do with one, increased the lime juice to offset , and it was fine.)
Don’t assume even MFP recipes are correct.
I do a quick mental calculation of fat free Greek yogurt (90/serving), a couple tablespoons of flour (100 or so), chocolate chips (about 70 per teaspoon, which isn’t many)and I’m almost at 300 without even adding skim milk or cocoa powder.
Two tips: instead of chocolate chips, check out hagel schlag, available on Amazon. It’s Dutch sprinkles made of real chocolate, and a little goes a long way. They’re so tiny it spreads well throughout the mix, so you get a bit of chocolate in every bite. Fun fact: hagel schlag means “mouse droppings” in Dutch, and is a favored Dutch breakfast food, usually on buttered bread. (Man, you hardly ever see an overweight Dutch person, lol. Maybe because they’re so tall?!)
I find that plain cocoa doesnt emulsify into recipes well. When I make yogurt chocolate ice cream with it, it always sinks to the bottom and provides no flavor. Instead, consider replacing the cocoa and chips with something like sweetened chocolate powder (Ghirardelli sweet ground is a hot chocolate mix but I use it in baking, too. It’s another one where a little goes a long way, so don’t be out off by the calories “per serving” because no way you’ll be using that much), or Naked Chocolate PB Powder.
ps I’m assuming a serving of this includes a whole cup of Greek yogurt.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but for 300 calories of my day, it darn well better be worth the effort to make, eat and look forward to savoring, and it better fill my large bowl to the brim so it “looks” filling.
There’s a Volume Eating thread that has some great suggestions for large, satisfying, low cal snacks including yogurt- if that’s your thing. BTW, kudos to you for seeking out and trying new things to satisfy that sweet tooth. That was what I did til I finally settled in what makes me happy.
For me, that’s a serving of cottage cheese, a serving of frozen blueberries, 1/4 serving frozen cherries, 30gr sweet blueberry balsamic, and 6 gr Grape Nuts. Mix well. 252 calories, sweet, tart, and it takes a while to eat.
I look forward to it every day!
May you find your likewise much-loved treat and settle in to a successful routine!
