One time, entry for background and history:
F 67, 5’6”, married, retired. Embracing a “growing younger” positive mindset - to be fully present to enjoy each day of this #HSF (healthy, strong, fit) journey. I fully commit to a daily renewal of #MindBodySoul. HW 172lbs in 2010. Optimum weight of 127 to 129lbs in 2015. Roller Coaster 🎢 ride with max of 145lbs every three years since 2015.
Round#317 is my JGMTD 87th round. I joined JGMTD in Aug 2023 @ 145lbs & reached my confident weight of 128lbs in Dec 2023.
I am a #foodaholic. I am on a lifetime health journey. Why? I want to keep up with my DH & fully enjoy activities with my grandchildren for as long as breathe!
I pursue a clean, whole food, WOE tracking macros and calories. 🏆 I pursue aging younger through an assortment of activities: 🎾 , strength-training 🏋️♀️, structured weighted -vest, walk🚶♀️, 8-10k steps/day👣, mobility, flexibility, movement🤸🏼 & plyo⏱️#MindBodySoul 📖 I’ve named my journey, “Healthy, Strong, Fit” (#HSF)

Round 317
Dec 7 to16, 2025
Female, 54, 5”1’
HW: 209.5 **was higher but I just did not get on the scales.
RSW: 187.2
RGW: 185
FGW: 175
UGW: 125About me:
Age: 54
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Canada)
Occupation: Realtor®, Century 21 Leading Edmonton, Pampered Chef Independent Rep, and Office Assistant for my Husband
Family: Hubby, Jamie married since August 30, 1997, 3 adult children all living on their own, son living on the north side of the city with his partner, 1st daughter going to university in Lethbridge and living with her partner, youngest daughter living in a group home with full time care. We have 1 dog, Farley a big Bernese Mountain Dog/Saint Bernard/Irish setter mix, 2 cats Shadow(the queen of the house) and Hunter(the big purr) and we also have a cat, Pepper who lives with our youngest.
Height: 5'1"
Highest weight: 209.5 lbs **was higher but I simply did not weigh myself
Current weight: 187.2 lbs
Goal weight: 125lbs
Conditions: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS), ADHDMy story:
My journey started many years ago. When I was 15 I was diagnosed with AS and told that I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 25 because of how active my disease was. At that time I was a swimmer, I trained daily, I was also a smoker At 26 I was not training at all and I was not in a wheelchair as predicted. I still weight in at 98 to 105lbs, I was smoking about a pack a day. Hubby and I were discussing starting a family. I knew that I needed to stop smoking for the health of my child, so I did. I used to brag about stopping cold turkey, which I did but I until recently have never admitted that I replace cigarette with sugar and carbs, after 5 pregnancies and 3 babies I weight in at over 209 lbs. Since 2005 I have lost and regained the same 20lbs more times then I can count. This summer my family doctor retired and we have a new young doctor who took the time to look at my weight issues. I am on some medications to help with my sugar addiction which I only admitted this fall I am working with a psychologist to get my mind right. Since September I have made more constant and easier progress in losing weight then I ever have before.
My Philosophy on Life and My Journey
This last year my life has had some big changes. After 16 years with the same company we were bought out by a huge American based conglomerate. When it was first announced we were told that nothing would change and that we would all have our jobs at the new company. Fast forward 6 months, all my staff was kept on but as the manager I was laid off and not offered a position with the company, they wanted their own management. It was hard. I did see it coming so it wasn't really out of left field but it was still a shock. After some thought and soul searching I decided to go full out into a dream job that I have always look at and thought some day. Wow changing careers after 50 and going into a totally different direction is fun, scary, exciting and hard.
This last year as totally changed my attitude towards life. I now live for today. I am learning to live for today and greet each new day as another start. I am more focused on learning in all areas both personal and professional. I eat by the motto that no food is bad, there are better and best foods. I am starting to plan more and take time for myself. I am learning to finally love myself and where I am right now.My Reason
My reason for losing weight and getting stronger and physically fit is simple. I want to live to see my children continue their journey in life. I want to be able to travel and see the world.A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.
Phyllis DillerThis quote is special to me. I really believe that a smile does make everything good.

🎷 67 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 317 (my 247th).
Goals for every round;
- First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!
- to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
- be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
- to have a totally 10-day binge free round.
- Would like to lose a pound round.
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 135. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available. This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 67 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.
I am the driver in my life & not the passenger, I need to drive my life to a healthy life."Health is wealth".
12/6 138.6 (trend 138.7) darn it!! Back up for the end of the round ☹. 10.37 miles walked. 0.6 pound increase this round, if only I hadn’t had that chocolate hiccup! Oh well try again in the new round.
EW Rnd 316 138.6
SW Rnd 317 138.6
12/7 138.6 (trend 138.7) No structured walking; travelled 87 miles to spend the day with DS & his family. It started with a Christmas experience at their local church, very much like a theme park pre-show starting with a video of Dr. Who in the Tardis telling us we were in the time machine with him taking us back 2025 years to Bethlehem & Egypt, actors and props in each of the various scenes including live sheep – it was amazing. We then went to watch our little DGDs at their swimming lesson & finally their dance show in the evening – amazing. A wonderful heart-warming day!!

12/7 I’m feeling much more like myself this weekend. Still sleeping in a bit but at least I’m waking up with my normal energy.
I have not been paying the least bit of attention to what I’ve been eating. I haven’t been binging or over eating but I just haven’t been focused on quality or calories.I can not over eat but still be way over on calories. That is where quality of fuel and thoughtfulness comes in. I’m ready to get back on track with my eating.
I can see a difference in my body and feel “puffy”. Of course some of this could be in my head and hormones.
I am happy to be able to say that no matter how low my energy has been in the last two weeks I have been consistent with my workouts. Exercise is one of my favorite things to do. Which I guess saves me because eating is also a favorite activity!
Almost ready to get back on the scale. It’s been kind of nice not thinking about it but probably not good for my bottom line. This is my slippery slope. Slippery slopes are hard to climb out of so probably best to not go too far down…

ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND 176.4
🎅🎅🎅🎅12/07-178.2 ❌ (Trend Weight – 179.1) This is the time of the month (and year) when it all starts to hit the fan. The travel yesterday was even more sitting than usual because it wasn’t for shopping or any form of at least a little walking or browsing. It was to see the movie Zootopia 2 and then sit at the pizza parlor while 2 birthday boys played in the kids room. Then the long drive home. But they had a blast and that makes it all worth it. Most of the bloat should be gone in 48 to 72 hours. However, I have yet two more days of travel this week. One for that dreaded root canal and crown (Tuesday), and one to see my cardiologist (Wed). I’ll be rounding out the week with a birthday party for DGS #4 on Saturday. Every year, this is the beginning of all things December tough. Usually from now until April my graph lines on my charts start going up instead of down. I’m going to fight that tooth and nail this year. I think what I worry about most in December is the week of baking and candy making since it’s not just one day that I have to compensate for. I think I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I haven’t yet learned to just lick the spoon. Good luck to everyone this round.

This round my goal is to have more days that touch base with the 130’s than the 140’s. Like many of you, the next 10 days has lots of chance for derailment, and I will do my best not to go overboard.
12/7. 141. Yesterday’s outing temporarily undid my Saturday morning weigh in. Today I will attempt to start unraveling the damage.

12/7: 170.9 📉So I’m almost back to pre-Thanksgiving weight! 🎉Of course, I pinched a nerve in my back yesterday and am now flat on my back. Argh!!! I went through this about 6 mos ago. I just have to take it easy for a few days. Not a good time, since I needed to get all the holiday decor up and done. Ugh! Oh well, such is life. 🤷♀️

I don't consider myself as the leader, more as a host that sets up the new challenges each 10 days & I am only the current setter upper!! 😁 The credit for this group must go to all the hosts that were before me: @quiltingjaine is who I took over from, there are others in the past. I don't know who was the original inspiring person to set up the challenge in week 1. I joined at week 69 in February 2018.

🎷 67 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 317 (my 247th).
Goals for every round;

12/8 138.6 (trend 138.7) 8.44 miles walked, a very good food day.

12/7 – 165.0
12/8 – 165.6 – Proud of myself for staying away from goodies at church. We are having a coffee meet and greet between services during December. Stayed inside yesterday and put up Christmas tree and decorations – 6000 steps – but doesn’t translate like actual dedicated walk does. Won’t be out of the 40’s today, overcast, and drizzly. WILL get a walk in today.

12/8 Still haven’t put batteries in the scale! Self sabotage or self protection, who can really say! I tried on jeans that I was very happy wearing in September and they were overly snug.
Instead of buckling down I ate nothing but Christmas cookies from 11am onwards yesterday. Probably didn’t go over calories but definitely not a good choice. Did have a lovely day with DH strolling through the village Christmas festivities. We also got the four foot lit up peace sign I made secured to the side of the house.
I am going to have to claw myself out of this rut I’m in. Just one foot in front of the other pure force of will to just not give up. Turning it around right now would make this just a little bump. I have to stop being so wishy washy and just DECIDE that I’m going to stop eating so much junk.
Sigh I guess I need to put batteries in the scale today and face my demons.
