OK Here is the first "official" Thread
I honestly started this as a "jest" but now I am going to follow through with it because so many people, including me, are serious about setting and achieving a realistic goal!
Very Few Rules
1. A New Thread will be started every monday
2. Weigh Ins are at the start of the week.
3. I will post a chart with everyone's progress and eventually have a google docs spreadsheet.
4. Post anything you want and support one another.
5. Here are the members who were interested.. I am going to send everyone a message with this link and also put a reference to this link on the end of the original thread:
6. This is "not" a group - it is just a "free and open thread"

Yes, I am dead serious here!
I have about 30-40 lbs to lose and by losing about 1/2 lb per week I am hoping to lose 8 lbs by New Year.
I have finally started to listening to the veterans on this site and learned about BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)
Here is a good place to start:

Here are some of my favorite links:

Eight Lbs by New Year's - Here we come!!!!!! :drinker: :smokin:
Check out a challenge that I have started that is about the "Process" NOT "The Scale"

SW 137.7
GW by 129.7 by 1/1
Eventual goal 127.
My only issue is that I only weigh 3x a month. The 1st, 10th, and 20th. I will post my weight on those days. Otherwise I become too obsessed. This keeps me thinking about the long-term instead of immediate gratification!
I just hope I remember to check in.0 -

Not a problem at all :-)
This is about slow steady loss and the process. I will keep track!0 -

So, if I'm not on your original "members" list, I can still "join" in the challenge? I need some motivation to re-jump start my journey. I have maybe 10 or so more pounds to lose, all in the belly/butt/thigh area. I'm lucky enough to be able to camouflage it with clothes, but I want to be as healthy and fit as I can be. I've been a bit complacent the past few months, so trying to get it back together!
SW:125ish
GW:117
Ultimate goal weight:No particular number, just when my belly is damn near flat and my *kitten* and thighs are firm(er). Less fat and more muscle .0 -

Hi All ..
Tomorrow I will give links to some other challenges I am a member of that seem to help. no one challenge can do it all ... you customize what works!0 -
Hello everyone! This is my week before "TOM" so I don't expect this week or next week's weigh-in to be anywhere near stellar, lol. Water fluctuations are annoying, to say the least.
Anyway...
CW: 135
GW (for challenge): 127
My final goal weight is probably somewhere between 120-125 since I am going for a body fat % of 16, and I have plenty more fat to lose before I get there. I actually will have a 3 site caliper test by a professional tomorrow, but I won't have anything to compare that to for another year. Navy formula is so inaccurate, but it's all I can do at home right now (except a BIA scale which is even worse for accuracy. Those things consistently tell me I am 30% or above, and no, I hardly think I am nearly obese at 135 pounds and 5'5" tall).
I still haven't chosen my weight training program of choice that I will start with on Monday next week (this current week is an "off" week for me as I am taking an exercise break right now). I will definitely get it nailed down within the next couple of days though.0 -
@Lyadeia - sounds great. I too am really going for body fat myself also. I am trying initially for 18% (Still fairly high for a guy, but I started at 23%+ yikes). I am totally with you about calculating Lean Body Mass etc.
Good luck!Hello everyone! This is my week before "TOM" so I don't expect this week or next week's weigh-in to be anywhere near stellar, lol. Water fluctuations are annoying, to say the least.

An observation i made.....
Every day new challenges pop up here. I just saw one where they said "lose as much weight possible by Christmas". Just about everyone had a goal of 6-8 lbs to the end of THIS MONTH!
That is our goal to the end of this year!
---- Question: Which group will be more successful!?!?!? :flowerforyou: :drinker:0 -
Hey, so I am studying abroad and trying to find a good way to workout while here. I might try slowly running again, but it's hard cause I often get shin splints when I do that.
CW: about 15-153 (this European scale is throwing me off a bit.)

Hi guys,
I'm in maintenance and working on fitness goals, but I'm here for support for you all. I can't stress enough how glad I am that people on here are making realistic, achievable goals. :bigsmile:0 -
@More - Awesome - Thanks for the support. Great that you are in maintenance.Hi guys,

Hi I said that I would start posting links to challenges:
Move your *kitten* Challenge - This one has been around here for almost two years and I love doing it. All you do is set a goal of how many miles you want to walk, run, elliptical, bike, swim etc.
And then you check in when you feel like it. The moderators post an excel spreadsheet with results and it is strangely motivating.
Check it out! :drinker:
