Are all lunges created equal?

Hi, have a (maybe silly) question. I'm on day 6 of a 30 day squat challenge. Wasn't feeling it too much, so I decided to add lunges. I'm really, REALLY bad at regular lunges and reverse lunges. You know, no balance and such. But then I discovered that I can do a decent curtsy lunge, which I can really feel, and a good side lunge. Will I get the same benefit from those as the forward and reverse lunges? Thanks in advance for any responses.

curtsy lunges are great for the entire butt and hamstrings. I do them weighted with 40 lbs.0
