Who is your support on your weight loss/gain adventure?
And how did you meet this person/people?

I thought of posting this question for everyone because in life I believe it's important to remember who is there by your side no matter what. I honestly don't know how I've gotten through so many hurdles without my finance. Not only does he make me feel beautiful at any size, he also encourages me to do anything I have my heart set out to do even if it's ridiculous. He is supporting and nurturing and one day will be a great father to our future children. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, just sharing my support with all of you!

I met my finance when I was a sophomore in high school (2004, He was a junior) back in Spanish class. I had a broken knee and a cast up to my high thigh. I was bullied a lot in high school for being awkward looking, (I was a late bloomer), being quiet, and not being promiscuous in anyway, very innocent. I needed help getting into my desk and the teacher asked him to help me in my chair every day and put my large crutches on the wall in the beginning of every class. He never complained once. We became friends who both shared in common being bullied and enjoying nerdy animes and video games. As the years went by we continued to be just friends, I had actually confessed to him that I liked him, but he rather be friends and other complicated family situations. Then in 2011 we realized that we truly wanted to be together. And since 2011 we've been closer then ever!

^__^ who is your support? I'd love to hear your stories!!

  • I have a lot of support for this weight loss journey but the most helpful one has been my Boyfriend Chris, and honestly we met online and I am so glad we did :)

The typical gamer romance almost, met playing a simulation online game though a mutual friend. had almost an instant connection to him, I went on my first road trip ever to meet/see him. Since then it has been the best time in my life. The best thing I could ask for He put his life on hold to come back down with me for my heart surgery and for my recovery. I couldn't ask for a better person to be in my life and to be helping me with this struggle.

I can safely and happily say I have hit the most of my weight loss after I met him. I was more driven and eager to be sexier for him, and for my self.

I am my support. There are other people who say "Good job", "way to go", or "keep it up". But those words are just words to me. None of those people are going to be smacking a cookie out of my hand at ten o'clock at night when I'm having a craving. And none of those people are there with me while I'm doing weights. I'm doing that. I'm telling myself that having one cookie isn't worth it (special occasions like birthdays are always allowed), and I'm lifting my own weights without someone babysitting me thank-you-very-much. My fiance is great by giving me "The look" when I whine about wanting a warm double chocolate brownie with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. But ultimately it's my choice if I give in to temptation (he's got a job, I can always sneak a baked goodness if I wanted to) or not. I am the best support I could get. And because of that I alone am held accountable for my successes or failures in this journey.

I have some people who are kinda supportive, but since I have been on and off diets since I was in my twenties, many of them seem to have given up. I am really the only one I can count on, in the long run, even though I get regular "Great work" and "keep it up"s from those I love.

My husband is my support, but there are plenty of good, kind, wonderful people I've met here that encourage & inspire me to continue on!

I'd say me.. my mom and my best friend!
As others have said.. no one is gonna knock the cookie out of your hand at 10:00pm. I am the one who ultimately has the biggest part in my success. But having my mom cheer me on and my best friend who is always asking what resturant I want to go to where I know there is a meal I can have that is relatively low in calories.. these people are a great support system.
    Love them both bunches!!!!

My husband is my support 100%! When I first started, he would pull sodas out of my hand (while I was still drinking them) and tell me I didn't need it. I asked him to help me and he did even though I shot him 100 dirty looks and said some very mean things under my breath, he still helps me. I can't do this without his support.

My friend Julie is supportive because she has lost over 100 pounds and is no stranger to dieting and weight loss.
My kids. My youngest son gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card telling me how proud he was after losing my first 15 pounds. I cried and cried.
My boyfriend is so supportive he eats diet food with me and always asks if I would mind if he eats something in front of me that he knows I won't touch. He is very sensitive to my dieting.
AND all my MFP friends are encouraging to me. some especially so. I feel fortunate to be able to count on people for support. It would be hard to do all alone !

Oh goodness! My friend Bart will do healthy things with me but we don't see each other very often. I feel like I'm doing it alone. Most of my close friends are pretty lazy and just want to hang out on the couch and drink tons of beer.
My husband is somewhat supportive, but he'll suggest going out for 5 Guys all the time.
I guess I have to be my own support!
