Quitting soda....Sodium and Water Retention

I have Hypothyroidism and have been told that we like to hold water weight any way, but maybe that isnt true. I recently completely quit pop (15days mt. dew free!) and I have always watched my sodium but noticed since I quit the mt. dew that I am more puffy (noticed my face is more swollen). Now dont get me wrong I'm still not drinking the adequate amount of water but I am trying to! I just keep a water bottle with me and fill it up all through the day and sip. I'm wondering what a good Sodium level is daily? and could I be staying puffy because I'm just not drinking enough water?
I think pop because of the caff acts as a diuretic so it kept me less puffy, but now it's just getting really annoying to me.

We do, and if you have edema, the sodium in sodas is probably the least of your worries. I'd consult a doctor about how much sodium you should have.

I'm hypo and actually was fainting earlier this year because of not enough sodium. Talk to your endocrinologist about proper sodium levels. Depending on your diet, you may be ok.

If you are having edema noticeable enough to be annoying to you, then you need to see your MD. Other things besides sodium cause edema, least of which is circulation/BP issues.
