First running injury (yes, this is a celebration lol)

First time to start a topic too lol
So I've walked/jogged the same route twice a week after school drop-off with a friend every week for the last few months. Saw a couple of magpies (September is nesting season, they started swooping about mid-August this year), but they didn't really bother us, so thought we were on to a good thing.
Fast forward to this morning. My walking buddy went off on the school excursion and I thought I could push myself and do a proper run by myself. I was doing so well! We do two laps of the school block which is exactly 3.5km from gate to gate. I did the first lap and was under 14 minutes, so coasting along beautifully. Slowed to my walk up the steeeeeeeep hill (not ready to run that quite yet!), and started jogging down the other side.
Yes well. Me + swooping magpie + edge of concrete driveway = pain
Does it say something that I was more worried about my time and my phone than the blood pouring out my elbows?? lol
A lovely lady came out of her house and cleaned me up a bit and then.... I finished the damn lap. Still did it in just over 30 minutes. Sweet. But I think I gave the ladies in the school office a fright LOL and the first aid lady fixed me up good and proper and sent me home with extra big bandages Think I need some ice though - there's gonna be some decent bruises.
My very first running injury. All because of a stupid bird But I still did my time

Probably could start a thread for weird workout injuries.
Great story.0 -
Funniest magpie story I have ever heard was from a guy at work. He rides his bike to work and through the park up to our office. He goes past some nesting magpies, but doesn't really worry about them as he always wears a helmet (law in Australia). Anyway, he is riding under the tree and feels the thump of the magpie hitting him in the head but unluckily (for both him and the magpie) it got it's claws stuck in the helmet and couldn't get off. The mental image of this sweet old man trying to unhook and angry magpie from his head was priceless.
He doesn't ride his bike along that route anymore. Think he has PTSD.0 -
I had a fall into a drain end of August and suffered a bad bruise at the side of the knee. Thankfully, nothing hits the joint. By Day 2 the bruise had gotten pretty big and unsightly. Since I didn't feel any pain in the joint so I carried on with my upper body workout as usual at the gym. One of the personal trainers saw the nasty bruise on my knee and was amazed I still carried on with my workouts. Gave me a thumbs up. Man, I feel so hardcore that day. lol0
