I need cheering up...

Having a rubbish morning so far... woke up with the sorest of sore throats... can't swallow or anything... and it's bleedin' typical that it would occur a day before I have a work trial for a job... up at 5am tomorrow to do a trial at a local cafe... really need the job so got to go feelin' pants!

Does anyone know of any remedies to maybe ease the pain of it? Gonna try and get into doctors today but dunno if I'll be able to!

A cup of hot tea, a tablespoon of honey, squeeze in the juice from half a lemon, and a shot of whiskey.
  • Does that really work? Hmm will have to try it! Thanks x

LISTERINE!!!!! Not even kidding i am the queen of all things tonsils, i get tonsilitis liek 3 times a year, and all i do is gargle with either salt water(with A LOT of sea salt) or listerine. gargle it far down enough to where you are literally almost gagging on it and do that for liek 30 seconds to a minute 6 times a day. I have no insurance and even if i did, i can't afford copay or prescriptions, so i do this all the time

Haven't tried the whiskey part, but I do agree with the first part. I used to be in musical theater and you would always see thermos/mugs filled with tea, honey, and lemon juice.
  • I need to go buy me some honey then! Just had a look on our NHS website (they have a symptom checker thing) it says to drink loads of water and not to bother with doctor until you've had a bad throat for 3 weeks!! lol ooh dear.

I think I shall drink lots of water and tea and eat soup all day.

Agree with the honey, lemon tea. Honey is a natural antiseptic. Also, gargle salt water as often as you can stand to do it. 1 tsp of salt in 1 cup of warm water. Let cool and then gargle. Gross, but it will help.

Probably no point in going to the doc unless it is persistent - probably nothing they can do.

    Good luck tomorrow.
