HR Monitor in the zone or not?

I have a comment & statement:

I currently wear a HRM while I walk ( 5 miles per day) I have gotten pretty good at keeping my heart rate within the "zone" indicated by the information that came with my monitor.
This week I have started to add in short ( and I mean SHORT jogs, Like a hundred yards, a couple of driveways, to the next corner, just to the next mailbox, etc) jogs. I would love to learn to run, but have NO clue . Thats for another post.
Anyway when I do this my HR jumps from around 135 to 155-165 therefore I am out of the"zone"
My question is this: Am I better off just walking and staying in that "Zone"? I thought that was a "fat burning zone" if I'm no longer in it, than what am I burning?
I remember from A&P class that there is a difference in areobic and anaroebic, does that have somehting to do with this scenario?

Thanks guys! .......and girls :ohwell: you know what I mean.
