Shoes for that "barely there" feeling

Anyone recommend a good shoe that has a "barely there" feel? I've heard runners use these types of shoes but I'm not a runner. Looking to use for kickboxing as I'm finding that the inner part of my foot hurts when I'm jumping around. A guy in my class has Merrell brand - says he has 5 pairs and uses for everything. Anyone else?

Additional notes:
I've kickboxed before without shoes and never had pain.
At a new gym and the floor's not as "cushiony" so haven't gone barefoot yet.
Shoes are only 4 months old.

These are usually labelled as "minimalist". Several brands make them. Do a little browsing and see what you like best. My husband has a pair of New Balance with Vibram bottoms he uses to deadlift that he likes.

I've been wearing Vivo Barefoot Evos and love them. They're completely minimalist - no cushion on the soles or anything. I got them on sale so I'd have a flat shoe for weight lifting, and then after a couple weeks of wearing them for that, I started adding back cardio, put on my old trusty sneakers and HATED the way those felt. I wear the Evos for just about everything now: lifting, cardio videos, running.
I'd just like to get a pair with a little more traction on the soles for light hiking.

Thanks ladies, appreciate the responses! Doing my research now so just a matter of preference I guess.
I'm planning to start lifting soon so good tip for further use.
