So what do you do when a resturant you are going to isn't in the system and you can't find nutritional information about their foods? I go to a lot of local places around me and they, of course, aren't in the system. I have been putting in similar foods, or foods that seem like they might even be over what I had, just so I had something that would equate to what I did eat, but then again I can not be forsure. Could you please give me some ideas? :)

You find something in the database MOST like what you're looking for - or search the internet. There ARE other food diary websites out there that might have it. thedailyplate.com and calorieking.com are usually pretty resourceful.
  • I usually will try to go on big chain restaurants websites that serve similar food and try to use their numbers... like if I am eating at a little local Mexican spot, I will go on Chili's website or if I am eating at a local Italian place, I will go on olive garden's website... try to order something at the local place that is on one of the big chain's websites - so you can stay semi-accurate with your numbers. Logging anything equivalent is better than nothing.

Guess. Misjudging +/- 100-200 calories isn't going to derail your efforts. Maybe be careful for the next couple of days after to be on target and drink lots of water (food out is often way salty).
