Yep, tried it several times with not much success. Never felt satisfied and always hungry. Felt like I was missing out on too much food and variety.0

My friend uses it for breakfast...but she always ends up overeating later on in the day. She doesn't do it for every meal...so I can't really say if it would work...but I know with her, it hasn't kept her full long enough to not over eat later.0

I have, and it works really well for me, but it's expensive for our budget. But I do try to stick with the basic calorie count from it. 200 cals for breakfast, 150 cal snack, 400 cals lunch, 150 cal snack, 500 or so cals dinner, and a small 100 cal snack after dinner. That adds up to 1500 calories a day, but you can always cut out a snack or two for less calories. But if you exercise, I would stick with the 1500. Plus, the eating 5 or 6 times a day really helps me with portion control. Good luck!0

Um I always heard that you should eat most of your calories in the morning... It fuels you for the day and keeps you from overeating later... So having said that I think that slim fast is a bad idea because there is nothing to fill you up... I always gained weight on slim fast instead of loosing... It's probably better to get yourself a good whole grain cereal and some skim milk... at least then you get to actually eat something... or if you like the idea of drinking your meal.... make a smoothie... add some protein powder and frozen fruit to milk or yogurt in a blender... whip it up and voila you have a healthy quick breakfast...no fortune lost and no cals waisted...

hi all,
I dieted using Slim Fast for both breakfast and lunch for 7 months and lost 70 lbs. with it several years ago. The only meal I ate was dinner and maybe a small snack each day. Needless to say, I regained all of the weight back because I became bored with drinking most of my meals. I also had to have my Gallbladder removed because of it. (according to my doctor). It is probably ok as a meal replacement from time to time but not something I would recommend long term for dieting. :flowerforyou:0 -

Same here, gigi.
I think I miss having something to chew.
My hubby (ultra-thin hubby) likes to use them on his cereal.0 -
i did when i was in college. whenever i had to get back into shape for volleyball season i'd start my day with slimfast and nectarines, at lunch i'd have slim fast and some cheese or an apple. then would eat a normal meal. it worked, but looking back on it, i should've only used it for lunch and not breakfast.0

I used slim fast and lost the 65 lbs. I gained 40 back a year later. I dont know how healthy it is for you but I dropped the weight very quickly, but did not feel as good as I do now eating healthy foods.0

I think the answer you will mostly find on MFP is that it doesn't work. I would also venture to say that most of us here would say that all diets don't work.
I think that people end up here because they have tried it all. Some with sucess and some with failure. Most I think have experienced failure and are ready to stop the maddness. I have found that MFP and the members pretty much stick to a healthy way of life, and not to a paticular diet.
So with that being said.... Go eat my friend! Enjoy food, enjoy exercice and most of all enjoy life! And MOST important...... If for gods sake you are going to drink your calories, then may it be a good bottle of wine! :drinker:0 -
Yeah I try not to drink my calories either (with the exception of coffee made with FF milk not too bad and the occasional cocktail) it doesn't work for me I always want to eat too. There are so many healthy options out now that I don't ever want to resort to a fad diet again.
I think Tommy Lasorta showed how it worked best though, he lost a lot of weight on slimfast and became their spokesperson then he regained it all plus some after he went off it and started eating real foods again (does anyone else remember this) I was young and this always sticks in my head when I think about slim-fast.
Good luck on your decision either way0 -

I think it could be a great way too aid in weight loss if you eat lots of negative calorie fruits or veggies with it, that way you wont feel guilty when you are still hungry after drinking it, and you can still get the benefit of all the vitamins in the drink. Just a suggestion. the BEST way to drink a slimfast is to let it sit in the freezer long enough it becomes slushy, sooo good! :drinker:0

I am a big user of slim fast for a long time. I don't use it for weight loss so much as I use it for convenient meal like breakfast when I am in a hurry. There are some things about it that bothers me, like the 220 mg Sodium and Cholesterol 5 mg.
Over all, I find it very help full in my meals since as a bachelor I can forget to buy something to eat at times. :sad:0 -
I like the snack bars for work. About 10 right before my 4th period class, I am always needing a little something to get me through to lunch and instead of hitting the reward drawer (candy) I grab the one in my lunch box. The best part is that it is chocolate and within my calorie count.0
