You can also do a big pot of chili with fixins like cheese, sour cream, jalepenos, etc. Also serve with tortilla chips.

just make sure you have tons of cheese for the Packers victory over the redskins :):)

I'm wearing my Packers shirt today!!! GO PACK GO!!!

Anyway.. Redneck Sushi!!! I know its not fancy, but take thinly sliced ham and spread cream cheese on it(I use low fat) and wrap it around dill pickle spears and then slice. These are my husbands favorite appetizer besides wings.

I'm in for the pickle sushi!!!! You could do cucumber sandwiches
a loaf of small pumpernickel bread the little square ones
an 8 oz container of low fat cream cheese
a packet of Italian dressing mix (I use zesty)
an English cucumber or whatever kind you want peeled or not (sliced)
mix the cc and dressing mix spread on the bread then put a slice of cucumber one top you can sprinkle a little dill on if you want. Love them!!!!

Ok - I am having 8 people over (big eaters) for the Redskins game this Sunday. I need some good recipes for appetizers. I know I can do a veggie tray, but I want a chip and dip or some crockpot meatbals... or something!! I just don't want really cheap and unhealthy meals.

Also, I know I'm going to marinade a flank steak. I need good suggestions for marinades that really soak up flavor in 2 days! Please please please help :)

Arancini, duck liver mousse and crostini, mini buttermilk biscuits with poached egg yolks and country ham, queso fundido with rajas and chorizo

so....no White Truffles, Beluga Caviar, shark fin-rhino horn powdered mousse for your arrogant taste, then???

Rice, breadcrumbs, duck livers, cream, fatback, bread, flour, buttermilk, eggs, ham, cheese, peppers, sausage, oh so arrogant

^This. You might consider serving brie too. :)http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1014952-pot-luck?hl=arancini#posts-15563770
  • Ham rolls made with laughing cow light cheese spread instead of cream cheese is great. Easily spreads. Put green onion in middle, roll, slice.

What about buying frozen cheese ravioli, defrost, bread with italian bread crumbs, brown in olive oil. Serve with marinara.

Spinach dip using light sour cream is good. Frozen spinach (defrost, squeeze out water), add light sour cream, knorr vegetable soup mix, light mayo. I like it. Can serve with chips. Pita chips are great with it.

    Just suggestions. Good luck!

    Good luck.

Oh and I saw another post from here. I can't remember who posted it. She put light cream cheese and slice of jalapeno inside of a wonton wrapper. Sealed and fried for a jalapeno popper twist. Do a search on wonton wrappers.

On second thought Google Tailgating Recipes online ~might be more doable and familiar. We cannot determine exactly how cheap is cheap to you, considering all the dramatics on this thread over a poster's suggestion. This clearly depicts differing economical brackets ~highly discriminatory. .

  • I make cold spinach dip using a packet of Knorr's vegetable recipe mix. Been making it for years and it's definitely a crowd pleaser:

I also recently came across this 7-layer bean dip recipe and everyone I've made it for so far has loved it:

Is that the Texas Caviar Bean Dip? Or am I thinking of something else entirely? Great suggestions.

I've just started reading this blog; I like how she lays out the calorie content for "traditional" football party food. It may be a good way to incorporate the food people "expect" while gauging how much you can enjoy without derailing your hard work. Or, take the traditional ideas and use the excellent suggestions everyone has given to lighten them up.

Nothing wrong with a large bowl of healthy popcorn! Encourage them to use dips or sauces with the popcorn (even fat free dressings) it's great!

Won ton wrappers in mini muffin tin ,fill with diced chicken ,1 tbsp buffalo sauce ,laughing cow cheese and bake in 350 oven about 10 minutes. serve with buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing.
  • I found this on pinterest and it's pretty easy and really you can't go wrong with ranch, bacon and cheese. You could probably sub either fat free sour cream or yougurt (plain or greek) for an even lighter version:
    Cheddar Bacon Dip
    16 oz. light sour cream
    1 packet ranch dressing mix
3 oz. package of bacon bits
    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

This is a great dip, spicy, and goes well with pita or pretzel chips:
Place 16 ounces of Greek yogurt, a handful of cilantro, the juice of one lemon, and half of a 7-ounce can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce in a food processor. Pulse until smooth. Add sea salt to taste.

Found this as well. I don't like the texture of ground chicken but ground turkey could easily be substituted:

    1 pound lean ground chicken
    1 egg
    1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
    1 carrot
    1 stalk celery
    2 green onions
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 ounce crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce (or your favorite), divided
    1 tablespoon butter

    Preheat the oven to 350F.
Line a cookie sheet with foil and coat with nonstick spray.
Cut the celery, carrot and green onion into large chunks and throw into a food processor.
Pulse to chop into small bits.
In a large bowl, combine the vegetable mixture, chicken, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, 1/2 the hot sauce and the blue cheese.
Gently fold together to combine, but don't overmix.
Form the mixture into small meatballs - you should get about 28 small meatballs.
Place the meatballs on the cookie sheet.
    Bake for 20 minutes.
While the meatballs are baking, put the rest of the hot sauce and the butter into a microwave safe dish.
Microwave about 30 seconds, until butter melts.
    Stir well to combine.
Remove the meatballs from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.
Place the meatballs onto a serving dish and drizzle with butter/hot sauce mixture.
