Birthday weekend badness. Is everyone this way?

Today is my birthday.
I already had:
Almond croissant and a latte. Than co-workers surprised me with chocolate cake. I ate that too.
I was still hungry for lunch and got a Pret falafel. Already 1,200 calories, and I am only at lunch.
For dinner we are going out, and I'm getting this:
and this
Venture to guess caloric load of these two things and 3 beers?
When I get home it will be late, I will be tipsy and full, and won't be able to run.
Than few cocktails with DH privately before bed.
Tomorrow my mom is taking us out for brunch to some french place in Manhattan. And I was already planning on having a green tea cake too. And Korean bbq
I know I said I was going to blow it on my Bday. weekend, but now I am scared.
Still want to eat all that though.
Does everyone just let loose on their BDay, or have I gone too far?

You do what is best for you but you better be prepared for a likely gain after this spree. Maybe you won't but with all that chances are you will gain a pound or two. Personally it is overboard for me I allow myself one good treat on my birthday but to each their own. Happy birthday!0

Go for it, just cut back next week and exercise a bit more and it'll all be fine, life is for the living, enjoy xo0

Celebration times are short, lifestyle changes are long. Have fun and eat what you want, just remember it's a special occasion, not what you eat all the time. I don't go nuts on my birthday, but come Thanksgiving, I will eat all the things, enjoy them, and not be sad that I have to work out harder to make up for it.
Happy birthday!0 -
On your birthday, I say live a little and indulge. Now I want a beer! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!0

If it didn't happen, does that mean the calories didn't happen either?0 -
It's your birthday, enjoy, but don't be surprised by a gain after all that . However, may I also, insert, don't just eat it because it is there. Eat it only if you truly want it. Sometimes we eat because we think we have to, not because we truly want to. Happy Birthday!0

It's my birthday too :-) log it and move on (don't weigh yourself this week) look if you deprive yourself too much, you start resenting it all and give up and that will inevitably worse then a birthday splurge.0

I ate & drank all kinds of crap on my birthday weekend....didn't gain a pound. Try not to worry about it and enjoy.0

It's my birthday today too! I didn't go crazy, but I did have cake and an evening snack (I try not to eat anything after 6:00 pm) But we are going out to dinner tomorrow and ill splurge. I think what keeps me from totally binging is the fear of gaining anything. I like my new weight, and I'm so afraid of going back to old habits. So I think to ok to go for it, I'm just afraid I won't stop when the birthday is over!

Happy Birthday!
My birthday was a couple weeks ago and the celebrations stretched out for over a week. Some days were almost normal with an extra treat and some day I ate most of the foods and drank all of the wines. But I agree with the person above who said you should enjoy the things you want to and not just go nuts because "that's what we're supposed to do at birthdays." After almost a week of being back at my normal eating and exercise, I'm less than a pound up from prebirthday weight. The good times with my friends were well worth it.0 -
Update:
I did go out and ate items on the picture, with beers.
Than next day my mom took me out to an insane $400 lunch (yes, I know it is crazy, even for NYC, and I would never do that) so I ate everything, including very fatty duck and half bottle of wine. Than ate 1.5 slices of lady M cake (lots of cream and crepes).
Normal dinner. Than I ran 10K.
Yesterday was a normal day -- baby was sick so we stayed home with him instead of going out.
So all and all, this morning I was half pound lighter!
I notice that trend when I go on vacation. If I work out hard, even though net calories are above my maintenance, I generally don't gain weight. There must be something to that "fat burning mode" after a hard workout theory.0 -
Those ribs look way better than I expected ribs to look in NYC. I would have crushed those.0

so far for my birthday (which is today by the way!!) i have had
- an indian meal with lots of wine (saturday just gone)
- a carvery, including apple pie and cream for dessert (yesterday)
- a doughnut, a millionaire shortbread slice and half a strawberry shortbread slice today at work
- KFC for tea
- carvery, probably with pudding again tomorrow...
then wednesday back to normal... :drinker:0 -
Its your birthday.. Who cares..0

Unfortunately, I stretched mine into an entire week! So, yes, I was totally like that. Need to get back to it.0

Mine is today, too! Happy Birthday! I'm going to eat fairly normally through the day, even though I'm not logging my calories... but tonight, we're going out for Mexican food (here in New Mexico, it's authentic and delicious!) and I'm having a brownie for dessert.
So, to the OP - I have several times a year when I'm not going to focus on weight loss. I used to celebrate EVERYTHING with food, but those days are long gone. Now, I do it now and then, but only for a day or a meal - then I'm right back on it.
Hope you had a great birthday!0 -
I dont see any harm in letting loose on your birthday as long as you know to only let loose for one day not a month0
-
No calorie limits on birthdays, your body knows it's your birthday and doesn't create fat from excess calories for that day!

I ate 5,000 calories on my birthday (April 1). Straight back on the wagon the next day, and still continued to lose.
If you are disciplined and plan diet break days, there is no reason for them screw you up.0 -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! There's no such thing as "bad" with your eating, this is normal eating : ) (I say this because labelign food as good or bad can sometimes harm you more than do you good)
Otherwise you'll be back on track before you know it!0 -
I had fully loaded nachos, funnel fries, a mojito and a bloody mary and AYCE sushi over the weekend but it wasn't my birthday. :drinker: I personally think that it's good to indulge once in a while esp. on your birthday.0
-
Go for it! I am pretty sure you will be able to get back on track the next day. I did the same thing on my bday and I saw a weight loss still! Don't know how but I am not going to question it!
Happy Birthday!!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Another April fools baby! I'm not alone!
Back to the subject. I personally feel it's fine to enjoy your b-day however you see fit. Just work it off the next week or so. In general don't give up because you might have over did it. Btw happy birthday!0 -
Its your birthday, Enjoy every single mouthful..........The beers the food etc
Then get back on it next week.........No biggy!!!!! : )0 -
Dude, it's your birthday, if there's a good time to have fun and do what you want that's it. And don't guilt yourself!
I've gone way over on calories all weekend and it's not even my birthday, it's my boyfriend's, haha.0 -
I like to enjoy it, and it only happens once a year, so I figure, what the heck! As long as you're prepared for the scale to go up (but that weight will probably come off fairly quickly when you're back on track). Just enjoy yourself and happy birthday!0
-
My feeling is always MODERATION!! Enjoy your birthday, Have cake and ice cream, but not large portions. Enjoy a great meal, but not hugh portions because ultimately we are going to pay the price. Once we get acustomed to moderation, it isn't a big deal.
Depending on where you are on your program, this MFP thing isn't a prison sentence. If you are trying to lose 20 lbs, it isn't like the person who is trying to lose 100 lbs!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!
