when do you start?

I'm doing C25k on w3d2.....I'm 5'0 currently 144.6 lbs and I'm trying to see when should I start focusing on doing a full 30 min abdominal circuit, because i'm only doing 10 minutes of the daily abs app 2x daily. How do you know if you've lost fat in your abdominal region, and when should you begin abdominal exercises?

Abs are like any other muscle group and should not be worked out daily. A few pointers:

    - you cannot sport reduce

Ok. Got it. You should not "wait" until you have gotten to your goal weight to strength train. I personally suggest lifting weights, find a program that will work your whole body and start now. Ab specific exercises technically are not necessary. They will not reduce fat on your belly.
  • Oh ok does it have to be barbell or could I start with a ketllebell and a couple dumbbells?

    Yesterday

Abdominal exercises have limited utility for strength training and for weight loss. Make sure your program is balanced and appropriate for your goals. If your goal is a flat stomach, ab work won't help much.

No waiting. It all contributes to your goal and the end result. Just do it.
  • So what do you recommend?

Barbells are best, but dumbells will still work better than nothing, or waiting, especially for a beginner.

Sure. Just be sure it is challenging to you. If they are light, but challenging then that is what is considered heavy for you. The reason that the barbell is better (at least in my opinion) is you can continue to progress because you can continue to add weights. If you had to buy new dumbbells and kettlebells every time your current weights became too light, you would be poor!

Don't wait. Just start with whatever you have. You can also do strength training with body weight exercises. Google Nerd Fitness or You Are Your Own Gym.
