So, I went to the gym today, like usual. I normally go around the same time, so I see the same people working there pretty much every time. At my gym, you just give the people at the desk your membership number and go on your merry way. So, I gave the girl my number, she said "thanks" and I started to walk toward the locker room. She called out my name and when I turned around she said, "You've lost some weight, haven't you?" I said, "Yeah. Since January I've lost 56 pounds." She nodded and goes, "Well, whatever you're doing, keep doing it. You look d*** good!" Now, bear in mind, this lady is about 5'2" and maybe 90 pounds soaking wet, so for her to tell me that I look good is amazing.

I had so much more motivation to get my workout done after that. You know you're definitely starting to look better when strangers are telling you they can tell a difference and that you look good.

Just thought I'd share! What are some things that have been motivating you all lately?

AWESOME! I am with ya! I think the compliments I am getting after so many obese years, is what keeps me going. We went out to eat for lunch today, buffet, and hubby said, "I don't know how you eat like that here, with all this food." I has 3-brussel sprouts, 2 cauliflower ears, salad, a 1/2 cup of sugar free pudding. I told him, the compliments do it! I just told my daughter 5 minutes ago, I have not been this small since her sister was born, over 28 years ago! Did you hear what I just said, SMALL! Never thought I would use that word about me again! Eat it up, (the compliments), enjoy, and work on harder! Good job girl!

Congrats and best wishes for continued success. I agree that compliments are great motivators and I think we all look forward to the day when someone does take notice. It really does get you pumped to "keep up the good work" as they usually say to us.

My recurring problem is that whenever I get noticed, some "well meaning" compliments seems to have quite a different effect on me. This generally happens when someone will say things like: "you look great, but don't you think you've lost enough weight already" or "your getting too thin" or " "you really have lost too much weight, are you sick" or "I think you''ve lost too much weight" and the list goes on and on. Talk about a catch-22....ugh....it is frustrating

My problem is that I tend to believe these "compliments" and as a result I will slack off from my diet and exercise, so as not to lose any more weight, even though the charts state that for my built I should be at least 4 to 8 lbs addtionally lighter than I am now. Does anyone know how reliable and/or accurate those charts really are?

I realize that some people will over do it, but I certainly don't feel that I have over down it! I feel good about myself. I walk taller and happier. Most of all, it finally feels good to see myself in the mirror and compared to older photos. Has anyone else had to deal with this? How did / do you handle it? Thanks for listening to my rambling words. Have a good weekend. Stay cool! :glasses:
