Fasting query

Hi all,
So I'm not a fan of the 5:2 diet approach, I tried it for a couple of weeks and didn't get on with it at all, going crazy on the non diet days.
However, I do like the science behind giving your body a break once in a while, so here's my question...
I've just come back from two days in Brighton, where I ate and drank SO much. Curry, donuts, wine, beer, cake, cooked breakfast, hummus, falafel, fried arancini... the list is endless!!!
Today I have woke up feeling awful, bad stomach etc.. I am thinking of fasting today.
What's the general consensus on fasting, a complete no? or okay for detox days. I felt some bad side effects when doing the 5:2 but I feel that my body needs a break after overloading it.

If you feel bad, I think you should go easy today drinking lots of water and if u feel better later have something light0

Repair time is good, a few hours without food or drink to clear the backlog. Sunday afternoon slumped in front of a DVD perhaps :-)
If "fasting today" results in a 10pm binge then don't do that.0 -
Thank you for the responses.
I am pretty sure that I won't binge tonight, I am feeling really sluggish from the after effects of all that food.
I can see why fasting every now and again does your body good in terms of flushing out any nasties.0 -
No on fasting. It’s not good for us. Just cut back a bit on calories, but don’t go less than 1200 calories, to make up for the weekend. And add in some exercise.
