Throat seems to close up after working out?

I have no idea what's going on! Whenever I work out I will end up hacking up a lung for hours afterwards. Then my throat feels like it is swollen and when I cough it its raspy and sometimes wheezy.

From what I know I have never had asthma, but I have heard of exercise induced asthma. I am out of shape, yes, but what is causing this?

Exercised induced asthma was exactly where I was going.

Talk to your doc, you may albuterol.

    My sister has it.

This happens to me whenever I start working out after a long period of not working out. Tight airway, thick spit, raspy cough...yeah. Really annoying. It eventually goes away after regular exercise.

When you start exercising, you are stretching your lungs a lot more then they are used to. In the same way you muscle get sore and tired, so can your lungs.

If you are really concerned about it definitely see a Doctor though.

Could be a panic/anxiety attack...but really if you are concerned about a medical issue then see a doctor

I don't have asthma but had several repeat bouts of bronchitis a few years back.
Those were the only times I used an inhaler.
Now, the last couple of times I exercised, I needed to use it again.
I have similar symptoms, with a really tight, wheezy cough.
I blame it on poor air quality and a ton of allergens floating around outside now.

I've had this happen three times. Always associated with a VERY high intensity exercise session. Once with sprints and twice with big hits in football. Very scary and the first time it happened it turned into a mini panic attack with only made things worse.

Nothing too helpful to add but bumping for responses
