Shoes for Insanity

I'm starting my third week of Insanity, and need some recommendations for good shoes! The first two weeks, I didn't notice my feet as much because the rest of my body was struggling. Now that my endurance is better and I'm able to keep a faster pace and take fewer breaks (NSV!), I'm noticing that the arches of my feet, especially my left, are really achy. I kept having to take mini breaks today so I could tend quickly to my feet.

I was having that problem before during P90, so I got a nice pair of Nikes and the issue was solved. Are there insoles that would help with this issue so I don't have to buy another pair of shoes when my current ones are still in good shape? Or do you have suggestions for another shoe that would be better?

Thanks in advance.

Pull out the arch supports of your exercise shoes and slip in Superfeet insoles, which most running shoe stores sell.

To help your arches adapt, try to walk around barefoot more or wear shoes with a *thin, flexible sole*, like Keds, Converse, etc. Arch pain like yours is usually from your arch being immobilized all day in stiff-soled shoes, which weakens your feet.

Stretching your arches hourly can help your feet adapt too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEintoiiqSg

As soon as you can exercise with no pain without the insoles (a couple of months?) stop using them.

What make & model of shoes do you have now?

Wow, thank you for all of that information! I'll look for those and try out the techniques you suggested.

I'll have to look at the shoes I have now. I bought them a while back but only use them for exercising, which I do at home. So they've stayed in pretty good condition.

I found this link where Shaun T explains what shoes are best for beachbody workouts...

I ended up barefoot a lot. No shoe or arch support helped; only time made it better.

    Thanks everyone!

I tried going barefoot or just in socks for some previous programs, but I couldn't get good traction on the carpet in my living room. I'll have to try some of the suggestions you've all made... it's tough that my body is agreeing with my mind in saying "go go go", but my feet are making it difficult.

I had a case of plantar fasciitis after doing Insanity a while back. I'd be curious to hear the answers because I'd love to try the workout again otherwise.
