Resting energy expenditure

When I was in a prolonged plateau phase, I talked to my doctor who ordered a resting energy expenditure test. I am not sure how to incorporate this information into my MFP profile (the REE turned out to be significantly above the level predicted by my height, weight and age). Should I be using the REE as my baseline calorie intake?
During my plateau phase I was consistently consuming more than my MFP recommended intake but less than my REE. I have been careful recently to consume more calories than my REE and I have started to lose weight again. Can anyone help guide me more scientifically?
