I've been trying to walk everyday maintaining an average speed of 3 mph around my neighborhood for at least 45 minutes but I'm looking for a change of pace/scenery. We have a ton of metroparks around my house with hiking trails. Some of these trails are more difficult than others. I purchased a heart rate monitor but haven't received it yet and I'm not sure what I should choose from the exercise journal for hiking. I don't plan on carrying a backpack or any weight but the parks I go to definitely have hills. Does anyone have any advice for what I should choose until I can track the calories myself?
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
