seem to be along these lines:

"I know the key to permanent weightloss is a reasonable, balanced and sustainable way of life.

BUT... that takes too freaking long and lacks the excitement, so I think it is a great idea to JUMPSTART my weightloss by an unreasonable, unbalanced, and unsustainable fad diet.

Because, of course, different things work for different people, so that's going to work great for me, because I'm feeling plenty motivated already.

And it will somehow teach me to eat healthy. Drinking that shake or eating this bar will teach me to eat healthy. (and I can avoid actually making healthy foods for as long as I can).

I need to see immediate and dramatic results, otherwise, there is really no point in giving my body the proper nutrition and exercise it needs. Health is something old people are concerned with. I am fine now, so I will always be fine. I will be the exception to the statistics."

I should have placed this post into "introduce yourself" message board, so people would see what I mean.

Well, we're all here at different places on our journey. It takes a long time sometimes for people to make a REAL change and a REAL commitment to getting healthy. Denial is a very hard thing to get over sometimes.

Did you not ever have one of these moments when you wanted or were looking for a quick fix? Perhaps you're a better person than I am, because I sure did before I finally decided to make a commitment to myself.

Yep. That was me 2 years ago and 33 lbs. later :) We all have to begin somewhere, I suppose. Change is uncomfortable, and we will resist it at all costs. haha!

However, I get why it's frustrating to be on this side of the fence. On the bright side, at least YOU made it to this side of the fence! :)

Maybe you have not been in the same place as the people you are referring to. I am one of them. I knew very well that the way I began my journey was not the way it would continue long term but yes, I needed the emotional boost of a good weight loss to begin with in order to get myself on the right path.

I had a fully PLANNED and INTENTIONAL ridiculously low net calorie intake for the first few weeks, meaning I shifted the first stone fairly quickly. I knew I would not maintain that level of weight loss and could not maintain that level of calorie intake but it did the job it was intended to do and now I am on a healthy intake versus output, losing a nice steady 1lb a week.

This means I am now doing things the way they should be done long term but am a stone ahead of the game. I am in exactly the right frame of mind for success. Have had a change of lifestyle that I see as permanent and feel, for the first time, that I have conquered my eating issues.

My plan did not lead to any of the things you talk about and it doesn't for lots of people. When you have, like I did, more than 50% of your body weight to lose, a few weeks of low netting really isn't going to kill you and doesn't mean you won't go on to 'do it right' once the boost is over.

Please try not to tar everyone with the same brush. Yes, lots of people do what you are talking to but again, even those people are in a place you clearly don't understand on a psychological level.

As Mother Teresa once said, "If you judge people, you have no time to love them"
