Calories burned at work?

At 160 lbs. MFP says I burn 145 calories per hour cooking/food preparation. Although I am on my feet doing some sort of food prep the entire day (6.5 hrs. minus break time) this would add up to be 942.5 calories daily. I find this hard to believe. Can anybody help me figure the accuracy of my work day caloric burn?

  • I believe thats part of your daily calorie allotment. I only log anything above the normal, ie the treadmill, exercise bike etc....

You should invest in a HR monitor with a chest strap and log your average bpm on a normal work day. You will get a very accurate estimate of what your daily cal burn is.

No, you won't. HRM are designed only to be worn for exercise where your heart rate is elevated about 120BPM. Wearing it all day will give you an inaccurate calorie burn.

If you are using MFP's calorie goal vs. TDEE it really shouldn't be counted. I mean you can count it but I wouldn't eat back those calories only those that above your daily routine i.e. specific exercises.

Source? If you take your bmr in the morning (lets say 70) and during the day you average 110, then thats extra cal burn over your bmr.
