for those who use an HRM?

I have a question for those who use an HRM with a calorie counter. Do you run your count the calories generated in your workout only for the amount of time that you work out or do you little it run a little longer until your heart rate lowers? And if you wait until it lowers, at what percentage of heart rate do you shut off your calorie counter?

I stop it when I get off the machine/stop running/stop doing a video/stop lifting weights.
  • I do the same. It starts the second I start exercising and ends the moment I stop.

I'm the same - I stop when I stop exercising. I know my heart rate stays up after that point, but those are my "CYA" calories in case I underestimate some of the calories eaten during a day.

I run it while I'm cooling down if it's from a run. But I try to leave a *little bitty* cushion of exercise calories every day anyway ... And I never leave it on after my heart rate hits 100 BPM.

I had been stopping when I got off the machine or was done with my dvd (including cooldown), but the last couple times I've let it go a bit longer. I stopped it when my heart rate got below 100. It adds maybe 20 calories burned or so.

I always stop mine after my stretching and cool down. I still consider the cool down part of my workout, so I count those calories too.

I stop it as soon as my heart rate drops out of my heart rate zone. which starts at 126 so when it drops below that i stop it.

I usually turn mine off as soon as I stop exercising...but the other day I accidentally left it on for probably about 5 min. and it only burnt a few more (like 20 or so) ...so it probably really doesn't make much of a difference...

I do the same; I use the cool down time to get my heart rate under my heart rate zone.

I usually do about a 5-10 minute stretch after I finish my workout. I run the HRM for that time period also. I feel it captures any of the extra burn but I also still consider myself exercising while I am stretching.
