Support/Friends in Miami?

I will be turning 50 this year. I started dieting two weeks ago after seeing a dear high school friend in the hospital. She suffered a stroke and various other illness including diabetes due mainly to her weight. I thought to myself; that could be me in that hospital bed with my kids praying I won't die.

I think it's harder for a man to go on a diet because the support is harder to come by. Coming from a Latin culture, women are accepted as dieters because of there health and appearance as to where men are looked at as being vain and in a mid life crisis. Do you agree?

None the less; here I am 2 weeks in and I have lost 13 lbs. I am proud of myself. 1600 calories for a 294lbs man is really hard. But I am sticking to it. Hardest part is weekends. I like my beer with football. Oh well.

Add me if you like. I would like to get ideas for recipes and exercise:glasses: .
