Pulled intercostal

I've been a little sore on the left side front area for a couple of days after an intense core workout. Today I did a compound movement- chest press - sit up- military press. During the sit up I felt like Freddy Kruger stabbed me in the left ribcage. I managed to stand up, but stood staring up at the ceiling trying not to cry. I did manage to finish working out, but now even the simple act of breathing hurts like a mo-fo.
I'm assuming this is a pulled intercostal muscle??
Curious if any of you have also experienced this, and if so how long did it take to heal?
Any recommendations on how to help the healing process?
