Dieting while toning?

I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to continue dieting while I do 30 Day Shred. I'm not overweight; In fact I'm at the low end of a healthy BMI. I'm just a couple of pounds from my goal weight, but I'm also pretty comfortable where I am. I just want to tone up a little, especially my thighs, arms, and those darned love handles. Can I tone up without dieting? I don't think I have much excess body fat so do you think it will be alright to do 30 Day Shred without cutting calories?

I wouldn't diet (but then again I am no expert). Just make sure all your food choices are healthy one. Great job on almost hitting your goal weight.

How was D1 of the shred for you?

If you've thought of this as a diet, you're in the wrong mindset. This is something you should be doing for the rest of your life-- eating healthy, and keeping track of what you eat.

haha I know, and as I typed it I knew that would come up. I'm a healthy eater for the most part, I only "diet" and cut calories once or twice a year because my snacking gets out of hand every once in a while (ie, during finals). I've never gotten more than ten pounds above where I want to be because most of the time I do eat healthy and watch what I eat.

It was awesome! Apparently I thought I'm in better shape than I actually am, I sweat so much and got exhausted by the end of the first circuit haha. But I finished the whole thing and have some very achy muscles to show for it!

Go onto maintenance and continue your toning. Yes you can tone without dieting.

Yep, it's fine to try to add definition while in maintenance, in fact it's a bit easier to do so. The tricky part is finding a balance of calories, nutrients, and exercise, that can take some practice.
