Overtraining/How Much Can a Body Take?

Having significantly ramped up my own exercise regimen just over a week ago, I'm feeling seriously beat up right now. Nothing hurts in a serious way, but boy does my body get fatigued! And since one hears so much about overtraining etc I've been reading up on what other people do/can do, to see what constitutes a "reasonable" upper bound on training.

Well I came across this Gym Jones (the 300/Sparta crew) designed workout designed for the dude who played "Man of Steel". 5 day cycle, 2.5hrs a day split across two sessions. Even the rest day has an hour of cardio. :)

My understanding is the actor worked with Gym Jones for 10 months (!) to get ready for this role, and this for a guy who was already in pretty good shape by normal standards.

For me, this is a reminder that we are capable of doing far more than we usually think we can, and it's definitely an inspiration to keep working my *kitten* off!

The body can take a lot (Ironman races for example) but you have to build up gradually over a period of months with periods of recovery and rest built into your plan.
