mastectomy and ovaries removed, no hormones

Hi. I had a mastectomy this year (with reconstruction) and my ovaries removed and am not taking any hormones. I've gained 25 ish pounds and they say some of it is my body trying to make the hormones. I'm still holding on to my twenties but is there anyone in the same boat as me?

I am in a similar boat as you. Three years ago, bi-lateral mastectomy, reconstruction and no hormones. Where we are dissimilar is I am 55 and my absence of hormones is due to menopause.

First of all I am not surprised you have gained weight. This is a BIG surgery, and reconstruction is no walk in the park. Your body has been through a lot! It takes quite a bit of time to recover body and soul.

That said, it is totally doable to lose those pounds and more if you choose. I've lost 65 pounds this past year, by eating at a caloric deficit and walking and hiking. Don't even begin to think these events can stop you from achieving whatever you want. You are young and have that on your side. I've walked this walk. I know how hard it is.

However I am in the best shape of my life, and even look good in the buff. And I am happy and have moved on where I hardly think about it anymore.

    Good luck sweetie
