Help My Big Butt!

I've always carried most of my weight on my rear. Although I'm losing weight all over right now, I would like to try some exercises that focuses on my bottom. I've tried some, but I have difficulty with putting too much weight on my right leg. I tore the ligaments out of the knee several years ago. While I've been through physical therapy to strengthen the muscles to hold the knee in place, it's still weaker if I do something that puts too much strain on the knee or that leg in general. Any suggestions? Sadly, a gym is out of the question as I live in very rural area. The closest gym is over an hour away.

It's actually not possible to target fat loss. Working your butt just builds up the muscle layer under the fat, it doesn't target the butt fat. For an explanation, Google "spot reduction myth".

The best exercise to lose fat - from anywhere - is vigorous cardio done often.

Strength training helps too, but it's less effective than cardio, One knee-friendly leg exercise is the Stiff-Legged Deadlift::

Start with 2 light sets of about 10 reps the first day.

Try to include upper body exercises too (pushing and pulling) to keep things balanced.
