Strengthening bad knees

I injured my knee years ago and since then I have not been able to run much before my knee starts giving me problems. I know it's possible to strengthen my knees and run again, so I was wondering if others have come back from a knee injury and what exercises are good for that. I was a runner before and I would like to be a runner again.

I'm not sure what injury you suffered. It might help to know that info first.

I think pretty much no one should run, but if it's a goal of yours, find yourself the best physical therapist you can. I  mine. I have a few things going on and she is using a different approach for each. The exercises she's having me do are not the ones my GP thought I'd need. And I'm not doing exercises for every injury, some things are getting manual therapies for now.

Well-trained PTs are musculoskeletal specialists. But you have to work to find a good one, not all are up to date on current best practice.
