What happened at 30?

Hi, my name is Jaimie. I am a 37 year old wife (15 years) mother to two children 14 & 10, both very active and busy, they keep me rockin all week long. There is nothing I enjoy more than watching my kids participate in their chosen sports and reach their goals and see successes. I also work full time, usually chained to a desk in front of my computer (I am sure that has contributed to much of my gain).
Somewhere along the road I forgot to maintain my lifestyle. I was always a very fit and active person; I spent 10 years as a personal trainer to women that had lost their way. I turned 30, moved to a new community, changed careers and got busy being a wife and mother, the excuse I told so many women was an unacceptable reason for not "fitting in a workout and eating healthy". Boy did that bite me in the butt!
I joined MFP in May of 2011 but did not actively post or record my food and fitness activities. I know the importance of tracking the calories in and calories out, again, I forgot about myself for a long time. I have recently (2 months) committed to myself again. I have removed the snacking in my life, eating meals is not an issue as I am feeding athletes and they need to eat clean, it was the incessant snacking and lack of exercise that has got me. I now run, walk or bike everyday and attend a high intensity fitness class twice a week. I am able to fit in most of my exercise while my kids are at their practices.
Here's to staying on track and reaching goals. Good luck to all of you, stay strong and committed to yourself. Remember, even slow progress is still progress!

What a wonderful introduction to you! I admire your honesty, that has been the hardest part for me. As mothers we do put ourselves last, especially with a busy work life.
I tend to put myself last too. I am learning to get moving, go for a walk or run when I am feeling rotten, and also to say "I'll do that for you when I get back from my run", and you know what? They don't mind a bit. Wish I would have done this years ago!
I am glad you are making some time for you!0 -
Good for you! Glad you're here so you can find your way. I see so many women at the gym I go to, come and go, never to be seen again. When I see them on Facebook, or what not, and try to get them to come back, they usually say they don't have time. Too busy running their kids to like 5 different sports, or other activities. We love our kids, but we have got to love ourselves as well, and take care of our bodies so we can be around for them. I wish I could get that through to them. Not that they have to go to the gym to be in shape, but they're not doing anything to lose weight at all. I guess I have this desire to help everyone to lose weight since I did it. Now I want everyone else to be able to do it too. Being a former personal trainer, you know what needs to be done, and you can do this! If I can do it ANYONE can do it!!! :drinker:0
