Lost 100 lbs, now I'm always cold

Just wondering if anyone else has lost so much weight that they find they are always cold. At this temperature, this time of the year, 100 lbs ago, I was always sweating and just hot, now I'm always in sweaters and freezing. I don't know if it's just because my BMR is lower or that I don't have that "isolation" anymore. Has anyone else had this happen?

I know exactly what you mean!!!0 -
I have only lost about 60 pounds, but most of the time I'm cold. Then again since I'm one of those pre-menopausal women I can also break out in a sweat at any time - lol.0

Its ridiculous! I never got cold until it was about low 60's mid 50's. Its low 70's and I'm in a sweatshirt and pants. Can't get over it.0

same here hun. i even went and had all kinds of bloodwork done to see if there was something wrong with me. the doc joked that i lost my insulation. lol0

I have thyroid disease, AND lost 130 pounds. I never get warm unless it's at least 100 degrees. :grumble:0

Yep.
Before I gained weight, I hated cold. Anything lower than 75 and I needed a jacket.
At my heaviest, 69 degrees was comfortable anything higher than 72 and I was hot/sweating.
Now that I've lost weight, I'm back to being cold at any temp under 75. My husband likes to sleep set the thermostat to 70 degrees before bed (he likes cold) and I usually have to be under 2 quilts to sleep comfortably.
edit: My thyroid levels are fine. When my husband works nights, I leave the thermostat at 75 and sleep fine (no extra covers needed). It's only when he drops the house temp.0 -
My hands are always cold since ive lost close to the same. And I get plenty of calories.0

the body will adjust after some time0

I get cold now on occasion... I use to ski in shorts... not now. I have a jacket if the fog comes in and there's any breeze at all!0
-
It's probably the lack of insulation... hopefully our bodies will adjust and we won't be so sensitive to the cold!0
-
Haha, if that's the only "complaint" you have about loosing all of that weight I'd say you're in a good spot. Seriously, though - congrats! & buy a sweater.0

When I was really cold while sleeping it turned out to be Hypothyroidism. Get it checked!0

Yes. I lost 85 pounds and now I'm always cold too.0

My mom lost 120+ pounds and she says she's always cold.
Use it as an excuse to get cute sweaters, hoodies and pullovers!0 -

Yep...ive lost 180 pounds and always cold too.0

Yep - I am always cold. The only time I'm not cold is when it's 90 degrees outside and I'm out in the sun.
Fall is coming, and I can definitely feel it. And let's not talk about grocery shopping. I walked into the store tonight and felt like I was walking into the north pole!!!0 -
Mine was really bad about a month ago. Now I know to always have sweaters and socks with me. I can get a real chill once I finish a work out and start cooling down. It is a huge change from last year when I was always hot.0

welcome to the I am always cold club. I lost 140 and if a breeze blows, I start to shiver. in the summer time, this summer, it was in the 70s and i had to turn the heater on.0

This!! Oh and movie theaters. And restaurants. Yup, always have to have a sweater.0 -
Had to laugh, I am kinda hoping this happens to me! Not to be ALWAYS cold, but I like sweaters and knit garments, and there's always clothing with manmade fibres that is always too too hot for me to wear! I have made my own cotton shirts for years, and am looking so forward to just buying clothes that fit, and not caring so much any more if they are all cotton!
eta: also to be able to sit in the 90 degree weather and not be too hot!0 -
I've lost 60 pounds since last December and this last summer, we had one of the very hottest years ever in our area (1 day short of most 100 degree days and we beat the record for most days over 95 degrees) but I didn't feel as hot as I might otherwise have.
Will have to wait what the winter months are like (as we do get snow and temperatures well below freezing regularly).0 -
Cold happens.0

I've only lost 27lbs and I now have the best of both sh!tty worlds... I'm not only freezing most of the time, but the second I start to overheat I start pouring sweat. Neither of these things occurred when I was a little fluffier.0

O man.... Once I'm done working out and stop sweating, I feel like I need to wear every article of clothing I own or I'm going to die from frostbite.0 -
I'm down 80lbs in 10 months and as of the last 2 weeks I am always cold! The weather just started to turn cold and today was our first snow...I'm freezing and my thermostat is exactly where it was last year! I still have 65 more to reach my goal so I am surprised this is happening already!
At least i have some big sweaters & sweats to layer up with!!!0 -
