is it weird being a gym regular but never talking to anyone?

I talk to the trainers. I'm not there looking for friends.0

Been going to my current gym for the last 11 months and haven't had a real conversation with one person only times i've unplugged my earphone was to spot a fellow bro other than that I keep my down and get the job done then leave, the gym isn't a place to socialize.0

I went to my gym for 3 years before I every talked to anyone.
I didn't want to!
I just wanted some me time.
I still don't talk much, and I think that's actually good.0 -
I don't make eye contact with anyone. Its easier that way. I'm there to work my body out not my mouth.0

The occasional passing hello but that's it. Got my iPod in and going at it so I can get out of there.0

I talk to a couple of the trainers but that's because they've trained my son and I generally run into someone I know there because everyone in this town goes to the same gym I'm convinced. The other day a guy came up to me and wanted to give me some "advice" and I'm friendly so I politely listened but that apparently gave the green light for another guy to put in his 2 cents. I'd rather just listen to my music and do my own thing though.0

I have been going to my gym for 16 months now and usually at the same time every day. So the regulars will usually say hello. There have been times i have talked to a few people regarding something they were doing . Or if they see me struggling to carry a bench or lower the cables. For the most part though, when the headphones go on, the rest of the world gets tuned out. There is nothing more annoying than having to keep hitting pause. My main goal is to go there and work out but, its nice to have friendly people around as well.0

I nod to the regulars, and say hi to the newcomers, other than that I rarely talk to anyone unless they aproach me or I want advice from the ripped guys, then we chat between sets . But I'm a very social person so, there's that.
Most people don't talk to other gym goers, they do their thing and leave, unless they went with a gym buddy or in group, people that go to the gym in groups talk more they work out... and take all the benches, I hate that.0 -
The gym is like the subway. Do your business and get out. Not a place to socialize. I work out. I sweat. That is it.0

I've never spoken a word to anyone other than asking them if they're done with a particular machine or weight. And I'm there 3-4 times a week and see most of the same people each time.0

I only speak to people who speak to me first, I am always cordial. I smile and nod. Other than that I am in the zone, dont bother me. I feel like a majority of the regulars are like that as well.0

If they give me a nod, they get one back. Have had a few people ask questions, give props or tips. (They get a smile and/or an answer/acknowledgement)
The creepers get reported (and oh yes, had a creeper that was scary).
If i bring someone I'll chat w/ them, but even then I rather just do my thing and such.0 -
I'm at my gym 3-5 days a week. I briefly chat with the counter person when then scan my membership card and then I crank the tunes in my earbuds and get busy with cardio or weights and keep to myself. I'm there to better myself, not socialize. Now if I take a group class there is some chit chat before class starts but its not like a BFF convo or anything.0
