Spartan Beast,,, and a head cold?

Yep, all of my hard training,, and now two days before the beast, I got a beast of a cold. I am looking for suggestions to get rid of this, and if I should do the beast at all (my lungs feel pretty crappy right now) If you are reading this and don't know what a spartan beast is ,, it is 10-12 miles of narly trail running (up a mountain form what I am told) and loads of obsticals. Thanks

Lots of Vic C and zinc is suppose to help. If you can hold of some echinacea that will also help.

For a sore throat try honey and lemon and if your chest is really bad try sitting in a room full of steam - eg turn the shower up high and shut the door.

Good luck for the Beast - I've only done a Sprint but doing a Tough Mudder in two weeks.

Chicken soup-it's not a myth, it's packed with nutrition and really does help.

Also, hot lemonade has always helped me...it's better than Thera-Fluhttp://www.babble.com/best-recipes/hot-spiced-ginger-lemonade-2/
This one has ginger in it-also great for busting up all that phlegm.

You have my immense respect-Spartans are hard but...Spartan Beast-hot damn. A friend of mine did a regular Spartan last year and he's kind of giving me advice for training for my Tough Mudder next year.

    Hope you feel better soon!!!

Zinc (once you're sick, it's too late for vitamin C) and lots of sleep.

As for whether or not you should do it... to some extent, it comes down to you and how well you know your body. If it's just a head cold, then there's no real reason not to, unless the head congestion affects your balance. That's the only time I skip workouts - if my balance is off.

Clearing my sinuses with a Neti pot or Neil Med spray bottle helps to make me feel better - as long as my sinuses are not so swollen.
