Sprained Foot/Ankle?

I sprained my foot yesterday and next Saturday is my first 5k. :sad: I'm doing R.I.C.E...although staying off it will prove difficult with the next 2 days full of cross country, football & soccer games for the kids. Any advice? I put my shoe on this morning just for some stability when I do limp around the house. I'm sure there is no magic cure but I'm sooo frustrated :explode: and my back hurts already from laying with my foot up all night.

    Ice and elevation reduces circulation, which delays healing. It's only warranted when there's excessive swelling that cuts off blood or nerve flow. Warmth and light movement increase circulation and speed healing.

    Wear low-heeled shoes like Keds for maximum stability, and lace 'em tight. Most athletic shoes have a raised heel.
