TDEE - What category would you chose if you were me?

Here I am again. And I apologise in advance. Im really just looking for an opinion on my activity level as I don't want to over estimate, which seems pretty common.

- I decided to check out my TDEE again today. It looked SO much lower than a few lbs ago. 400 cals had been chopped off. Meaning I've been eating wrong for over a week so far. So Im thinking: Did I decide I was a lot more active last time I calculated? Why? Am I? lol

So I will give my info to anyone who has a few minutes to look at the Scooby picture I have attached.

My problem is my job. My decision is to make my work my exercise as any extras burn me out. I'm so confused what category it falls under. Facts:

Walk to work: 35 mins Brisk Pace: 5000 steps
Walk home: 40-45 minutes Slow: 5500 steps
Work: 30-40 hours per week. 5-6 days a week.

Job: Chamber Maid.

Where would you put yourself in this?:

Is this job VERY physical? It certainly feels so. It may be to me but by these calculators standards perhaps only builders and such fall under the strenuous category. I not only clean but I lug a heavy trolley all day and walk / run down a never ending corridor all day with linen piles. Some websites say maids burn 100 cals an hour. Sure its VERY hard work, I actually cant walk after sitting down at home some days. ( Honestly! lol ) But what is difficult for me may not be seen that way in calculators.

To settle this I am saving for a FitBit or a Fuel Band. I'm not just worried about losing my last 4lbs, its about maintaining later and getting it really wrong.

Thank you all. I love this forum. haha!

    Hi

My advice is to use different levels for different days.

I have one day of rest a week with no exercise. I use the "Sedentery "level.

One day a week I have a personal training session, I use the "strenous" exercise level

Other days, I exercise by myself, I use the "Moderate" level if I include weight lifting. If no weights, then"Light" level

    Good luck in your journey

    Hi, thanks!

TDEE is meant to spread across the whole week but I really do have days where on a day off, I sit on my a** all day! So I've been doing the same as you. I eat at about 1200-1300 on days off as my BMR is a little over 1000. ( according to most calculators ) Assuming Im not comatose I will eat back 200-300 above my BMR. Im sure I burn that much just shuffling about the house! haha

Me and my boyfriend worked it out tonight. He thinks Im " Strenuous " so I will stick with 1500 for now, rather than the 1600 given to me. A happy medium between moderate and strenuous.

If you're on your feet all day, I'd be looking at eating 2000-3000 calories. No way I'm eating a lettuce leaf for lunch.

Buy a pedometer and you can calculate your average distance then translate that into your daily calorie burn at work. Not only do you burn a ****load of calories but you must also go through a lot of shoes. :-D

My shoes burst open yesterday and thank God, my new pair arrived at the door that day! I buy a pair of black trainers off Ebay every 3 months. My trousers also get holes in the knees within the same time.

I have a pedometer it caught 37,000 steps between 7am and 3pm, no lie. Problem: When I wash the cups for the bedroom tea tray, my hips jiggle as I stand at the sink vigorously scrubbing them! So my wee hip jiggles as I clean the bathroom probably doubled my step. So I have no idea how to log correctly with a pedometer.

I showed my boss the 37,000 at the end of the shift and she was killing herself laughing saying she thinks I was jogging on the spot like a mad woman in my last room, so I could show off the big numbers. aha!

Thank you for your input. :-)

10,000 steps alone put you at lightly active, with your job I'd probably eat at moderate. Do you have a fitbit? That would probably help you figure it out.
