5K Training Planning for Someone Not New To Running

Hi there, all! Does anyone have a training plan, or something they've done in the past when training for a 5K? I have been running since late April, and don't have a problem running 3 miles and my typical mile time is about 9:40 per mile when I run 2 or 3, more like 8:30 when I just sprint one mile itself.

The race I'm running is a "fun" one with my two aunts; it's a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and it's technically only 2.5 miles. I'd just love some way to be in my best shape for it, without beating myself into the ground and messing myself up! I am taking a bit of a break from running, as I just ran 50 miles in August and was really sore and in pain, so I've been running about 4-6 miles a week, 2 miles at a time the past few weeks just to recover.

Any ideas? What have you done?

Runners world smart coach would be fine for this. Sounds like if you just want to do it for fun, you're already there.
