I've been wearing it about a month and to be honest...now what? What do I do with the data it's giving me? I know I need to up my exercise...who doesn't....but leaving that out of it right now, I'm averaging a 1000-1200 cal deficit every day. Is that enough? Too much? I'm staying within my 900 cal. 40% pro/30% carb/30% fat ratio and am only losing about 1 lb a week.

I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do with this thing!!!

I'm sorry, did you say you're eating 900 calories a day?

If so, unless doctor's orders say otherwise, you need to bump up your caloric intake to what MFP suggest after you put in your current weight and height and activity level.

    See: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing

I increased my average calories from 800-900/day to about 1300/day and started losing weight pretty soon after.

I had gastric bypass surgery and am following my Dr.s schedule. I'll be increasing calories in about 6 weeks. I've lost 160lbs following his plan so I'm confident things are going according to plan. But it's no magic bullet and I'm trying to learn what I can about the way my body works so I can keep the weight off.

Thanks for the concern. Can you answer my question about the daily calorie deficit?

Like most plans you will have to adjust your settings, what you needed to burn a month ago may not be what you need to burn now to keep losing. go back into the activity manager and choose the settings tab and select new goals. This may change your burn in order to lose. Also, are you logging meals daily or using the daily estimate (which takes info and automatically calculates new goals) I prefer the logging daily, takes a little more work but I feel like I get better results.

You have made great progress and you will have ups and downs, since you have the bypass I would follow the doctors orders over the gowear, however, I understand you desire to learn how to keep it maintained once you lose and that is a valuable tool.

Consider this too, when people hit plateaus or start slowing down it is time to change things up, try to increase your cardio by 20% in either time or distance, however you measure. For example if you walk 4 miles everytime then you need to do 4.8, or increase the time and instead of an hour go for 72 minutes, etc etc etc. do this consistently for about two weeks and you will start to see some more results!

Good luck! :drinker: And great job so far!

I also own the GoWear Fit, and what I use it for is a guide as to how much I should eat in a day. If I burn 2500 calories, and I'm trying to lose weight, I will eat between 1500 and 2000 calories in a day. I have been wearing mine since May, and have noticed over time that my resting burn rate has gone up (I do a lot of weight lifting, so I can tell it's helping burn more calories at rest). I also use the GoWear Fit to monitor my activity, and figure what times during the day my calorie burn is lowest, and strive to get more active at those times.

If you're just using it to see what you burn in a day, steps, etc, I could see where you would wonder what to do with the info. But, if you're using it to guage how much to eat, how much more activity you need in a day, etc., I think you'll always find that information useful.

    Hope that helps!
