Pears

Our pear tree is groaning under the weight of all the fruit!
I don't know what variety they are but they're big - one pear can easily be a pound or two! They ripen suddenly and don't keep very long at all sadly! Most end up on the compost.
You can only make so many pear crumbles - and I already make jars and jars of my favourite pear chutney. I'm also planning to poach some in red wine and bottle them in a red wine syrup - save some money on Christmas presents
Any other ideas for using these pears?

What a nice problem to have!! I bet you have many friends at pear ripening time. Could you dehydrate them or turn them into pearsauce?0
