Sugars....

So, I've been on MFP for about 6 weeks or so and have viewed other people's diaries and noticed that you can track sugar. I consider myself somewhat of an athlete, completing a duathlon, triathlon (sprint), a half marathon and am currently training for another half marathon. With that being said, I definitely eat back some of my excerise calories because of my activity level. I eat fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water and no soda at all. I went in to track sugar, then viewed my diary for the previuos 10 days or so and noticed that EVERYDAY I would have been over in this area and for the most part ok in all other areas. I took a look at my exercise calories and notice while exercising will give back calories, protein and carbs to your net, it doesn't give back any sugar. How important is it for me to track sugar? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

It is tough to track the sugars because it doesn't account for natural vs created sugars. I am over EVERY day in this category but don't worry too much about it. In my opinion, just pay attention to where your sugars are coming from. If you are eating mostly fruits and vegetables, you are most likely okay in the sugar department, even if you are going over consistently.0

I used to track sugar, but I like oranges and eating two of these per day would push the sugar way over and that was without any other sugar in other food the rest of the day. I took sugar off my tracking list a few days ago. I figured that I do not eat sweets, cakes, biscuits, chocolate or any crap anymore, therefore any sugar I do have will mainly be from fruit (because without those two oranges' worth, my sugar would have been very low).
Personally, if I were you and on a healthy eating plan and you are obviously very active and exercise conscious, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't stuff on cakes, sweets chocolate :laugh:0 -
I don't track sugar anymore because it conflicted me so because they don't take into account "white sugar" over natural sugar (fruits). I have given up white sugar and know that eating fruit is healthy for me (in moderation like everything else!). That said, I don't track sugar anymore, I eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits, stay away from the pastries and desserts and don't worry about it as I am tracking calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber and sodium. Sodium is really one to watch!!!!0
