Interested in using a Hula hoop, but not sure what kind...

Hello,
I have been wanting to try incorporating using a hula hoop into my fitness routine. (To be more specific, I'm looking for the sports version of Hula hoops, not the the $4 cheap plastic that can be found at walmart)
After doing a google search I'm getting a little confused because some have different weights, and some have little nubs on the inside of the hula hoop.
Basically my question is, where do I start?

I got mine from Hoopnotica via Amazon. Can't tell you much about whether it's a good one, how to step it up etc. (Because I got it for a low-impact home cardio option, and frankly it's not all that great for cardio if you've done anything at all, and it's kind of boring.) I think the Hoopnotica one is probably fine. I remember reading that weighted ones are not what you want. google can help you better from here, good luck0

As a Hoopnotica instructor, I would also recommend checking out the Hoopnotica website. However, there are also many vendors on Etsy and eBay who make quality, adult-sized hula hoops. Many can make them to fit you. Measure from your belly button down to the floor for a good idea of the size you need. However, if you feel that your waist is on the bigger side, then you will want to measure from the bottom of your sports bra down to the floor. In beginner hooping, bigger is better.
As for instruction, I HIGHLY recommend a Hoopnotica Level 1 video. There are tutorials, troubleshooting and a workout. all in one DVD.
As for the comment about being boring, it can get boring. However, if you learn the basics and want more, look for tutorials on Youtube. Or look for a class in your area or a group of hoopers that meet up once a month or so (via Meetup.com). I have been hooping for 20+ months and love it.0
