Polar HRM displaying half heart rate?

I know that a call to Polar is probably in my future, but on the off-chance that anyone has solved this problem before, I thought I'd ask.
I recently purchased the Polar RS100. I set it up, put it on, and it worked perfectly for the first workout. This morning, I put it on and the heart rate is displaying at half my normal heart rate. (As in, my watch says HR 45-50 when it's really 90-100.) For my morning workout, I wore it anyway and it seemed to correctly gauge the change in HR throughout my workout. But still, everything seems to be displaying at half my HR!
I googled the problem, and I don't *think* I'm committing any of the problems they list (http://www.polar.com/us-en/support/Troubleshooting_Heart_Rate_Signal_Reception). The only thing I'm really unsure of is the battery; is it possible I would already need to replace it, even if the monitor is new? I did store the band separately from the transmitter when I wasn't using it.
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you just get a bad battery. Maybe try replacing it. It couldn't hurt.0

Thanks. Should I replace the battery in the transmitter or the watch receiver? Or both?0

If anyone needs the answer in the future, my problem is happily resolved. Called my local Polar dealer, and he immediately inferred I had somehow put it in percentage mode. Switched that off, and it's now working perfectly.0
